S&W 422 or Buckmarck?

I would go with the currently available Buckmark over the discontinued S&W 422/622. Might also want to consider a Beretta Neos or a Ruger Mk.III.

Three years after this thread began and the 422 is still discontinued and the Buckmark is still around. :)

I did see a couple of really nice used 422s in the LGS last weekend.
Now pushing hard on the $300+ mark.

Will a 20 year old Buckmark show that kind of appreciation?

I wouldn't exactly call that appreciation.
422s/622s and variations were NEVER exactly Cheap guns when they sold new going around the $275-$350 mark brand new.
For a period the guns could be bought at reasonable prices on the used gun market but as supplies began to dry up the prices began to climb then the guns seemed to disappear as speculators held on to them.
Now prices for used have risen to near what the new guns sold for originally and they are beginning to come out of the woodwork once again.

Just to chime in a bit late: I have a 6" 622 and still get regular offers from friends that want to buy it. I bought it somewhere back in 89 or 90 and it's not going anywhere. It will never win a beauty contest, but it always hits where it is aimed. Glasslike trigger, low barrel profile for follow up shots, easy controls. Take down is awkward if you don't have an empty .22LR casing. That's not a difficult pre-requirement.
