Actually mag body dims are the same except locking cutout is in different spot.945 is the closest third gen approximation to the 1911. It's a 3rd gen slide barrel and frame (uses 4506 magazines with a new, second, catch notch) with 1911 type hammer/trigger/sear/grip saftey etc. jammed. Nice guns, but pricey.
This is interesting as I've seen other people using "1911" as a generic term for a single stack pistol.

I've seen it in Gunbroker descriptions of guns like the S&W Model 39 which I guess might start to look a 1911 after a few pitchers of Founders All Day IPA.
