S&W 637 quality equal to a taurus?

I've had two Taurus pistols, a 66 & a 24/7-C compact...

The revolver was made in the 80's at the old S&W Brazil plant.
It was a beaut, shot very well, and was my duty sidearm for several years.
Only sold it one year when squishy hit the fan & needed money fast...
still miss that revolver.

The 24/7 was bought new in 2008, for my Wifey...she uses it as her EDC.
Only issue it ever had was a bad mag, the 13-rd one, it was sent back to Taurus,
and they sent out a new 17-rd mag...no more feed problems.
That winter I did a Fluff & Buff on the internals, as is done with all semi-auto's in this home...
it ain't even hiccupped since, even using cheap range reloads...

No complaints about Taurus from here...
and I like 'em even more since they recently opened up a plant in South Florida
to take care of returns a LOT faster than sending them back to Brazil...

I'm not here to praise Taurus or bash S&W, but there is one area where the Taurus design is head and shoulder above S&W and that is in the design and application of their internal lock which is superior in every way to the Smith version, IMO.

Gary: You're right about the internal lock.... a much better place for it than where S&W has theirs.

I've had a 637 for years, (and many other Smith's), as well as several Taurus products. I purchased some grips for a Taurus 605 that should have fit it's sister model 85 but did not because that particular frame was just a little different. Hmmm.... buy one grip for one J frame and they fit ALL my J frame guns. It was the little things about Taurus that turned me off to them. I'll pick a S&W Model anything over a Taurus, now or in the past.... just my personal opinion.
