After firing about 25 rounds out of my almost new 642 today I had a fail to fire on one round. After reloading with 5 more I had another fail to fire. I then figured out that the trigger was not engaging the hammer every time the trigger was pulled. I thought it might be a reset issue but after getting the gun home and cleaning and dry firing it several times the problem still remains. About one out of ten times the trigger does not engage the hammer . This is a new gun with less than 200 rounds and no work has been done internally. I have sent the request to Smith and Wesson for warranty repairs but would like to know if anyone else has had this problem with their revolver.
