S&W Classics: who has one?

A few weeks ago I purchased a Model 22, Model 1917 what sweet handgun. I've stopped carrying my Smith 629 Classic in the woods. The 1917 is lighter in wt. to carry and those 6 round clips allow speedy reloading. But the main thing it is a good shooter.

I just ordered one of the Color Case 40-1 Centennials because I want a new J-frame to carry, and the prices on the old guns are getting up there. The price is a bit high, but the ammo is worse.

I have a Model 36 3" Color Case. Check out this thread.

I paid $660 for my color case 3". So far I have not found another. It list for $735. I did see a 1 7/8" online at a pretty high price.

That is the exact one that I would like, either case hardened or just blue. How does it shoot?

I like it fine. It's my first gun so I may not be the best person to ask. My only issue is the small stock service grip. I am ordering a Hogue wooden grip that's longer. That should fix that.

I had looked at other pistols from .22s on up to .45s - both revolvers and 1911s. My brother and father are big shooters so I was able to take some time to try before I bought. Between the two they had a lot to sample. I settled on the Model 36 for starters.

I may still get myself a compact Colt 1911. I really fancy that gun. It is just a bit out of my price range at the moment. I know it won't go down but I can save up. :)
