Has Smith and Wesson ever offered a .45 ACP on their L-frame? They have the .44 Magnum in a five shot version, which is certainly a higher pressure round, though more svelte. Taurus once offered something similar on their Tracker frame, but sales weren't there.
It would just seem like a nice carry piece.

I'm not sure wether Smith ever made an L-frame in .45 acp . I believe the one they made in .44 spl has been discontinued (L-frame - 5 shot) , and I can't find where they are making a 5 shot L-frame in .44 mag ?

Taurus presently makes a .44 mag 5 shot on the Tracker frame which is about the same as the L-frame in size and weight. I have one of these and like it very much - particularly shooting 44 Spl from it. I would rather go with this than having it in .45 acp , but to each his preference.

They chambered the .44 spl in the L-frame, but never added the .44 magnum nor the .45 acp to the lineup.

Thanks Majic ,

That confirms what I thought .

Croyance ,

Looks like the best option might be the Taurus Tracer 44 mag. It is basically an L-Frame size 5 shot gun and with 44 Spl ammo is pleasant to shoot, and has big bore power that exceeds the 45 Auto round and no clips required is a plus in my opinion.

Bring back the 44 Spl 5 shot L-frame that S&W made in an airweight would be nice , but likely won't happen.
