Thank you for posting your source for your reloads. (148 LWCHB over 4.0 231) I still consider myself in the learning mode (started in 85) and look forward to trying others loads that can be veified.I post nothing that can't be backed by a legitimate source.
Here you go try these they'll step your ABC caliber to an XYZ magnum! At 66yrs of age I always try to be polite, well most of the time. Instead of asking "what were you thinking?" I just decline. Gettin old and my wrist won't take hot loads any more. Works every time!
Of late I've been messing wit 125 grain Remington JHP's and reduced loads of 231. You know something like a 3/4 magnum. I've got 5.5- 6.0- 6.5 ready to test, hopefully this coming week.

Just for fun, that poster is not my source for reloads. I rely on several current reloading manuals. I would never subject my M10 to the load he tested containing IMR SR 4756, or 11.5gr of 2400 either. However I do use 5.4gr of Unique under a 158gr SWC as that is still listed in Lyman's cast bullet handbook. I've been contemplating taking a trip back in time and working up a load using a 200gr bullet and 2400 but haven't yet set to work on it.

If I need more power than what 5.4gr of Unique and a 158gr SWC load will accomplish then I reach for my other favorite revolver cartridge my .41 magnum:)

Here's another... an M&P "Pre-10" from the '50's, in pristine condition....
(forgive the 60 trying to hog the limelight...)

336A used unique back in the late 80's never did it to drop the same amout each time! Plus it was two steps past dirty. Wouldn't ya know it was my J frame's favorite powder. Gave up and moved on to 231.
My model 10 came from the Goldsburg PD in NC. looks like it was dragged down a dirt road for miles. Maybe 10% of blueing is left. Built in 55 and after all it's been thru still shoots as good as the day it was built.

Got some much needed range time today with the M10:) We had a bit of a love hate relationship going though. I started out shooting on this target http://www.reloadbench.com/pdf/files/eightinchgreytarget.pdf at 7 and 10 yards. Shooting was standing single action slow fire and my POI was very inconsistent on this target:banghead:

Finally I ran this target out to 15yd http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/63...on-pistol-target-b-24-50-paper-package-of-100 and kept all 6 rounds in the center:) Looks like we need more time together so I can improve on my fundamentals more. I just cant figure how I was all over the place on the first target then right on the money when shooting the B-24 target:confused: But then again that 2" circle don't leave a whole lot of room for error.

The ammo was my own reloads consisting of a 158gr SWC over 4.6gr of Unique. I also tried 4.5gr of W231 with the same bullet. I think I'm going to have to load some more of those up as they were very accurate for me.

I own 3,4 &5 screw versions as well as a pre model 10 victory model. They are my favorite S&W model. They are all four inch except for the five screw , it is a two inch.

Just got one this weekend

A link (with pictures) to my post in the "the last firearm you bought" thread (to save space by not posting the pictures again)...

I really like how it shoots - I'd guess it's pushing 20 years old and it feels solid and tight. As an aside, if anybody knows how to get the nasty engraving off the bottom of the trigger guard (without making matters worse) please advise.

I have a 4 inch blue heavy barrel 10-5 and a 4 inch heavy barrel 64-1 and recently got this nickel skinny barrel 10-5.

This past weekend, I was able to add this 2 inch 10-7 to the group.

Model 10 Acquisition

Just became a member of the club. Just acquired my first model 10 heavy barrel. According to S&W it was made in 1995. It is an import by C.A.I. of Georgia V.T. Anyone familiar with these imports? Or anyone know where to find info on where it was imported from? It is in really good shape, looks like it was carried a lot but shot little. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance! dcopper aka Larry SnBSL0784.

This is the one I like to have with me, when I can. From around 1964.

Frankly, I'm not that sad to see it being dropped from S&W's lineup, considering what it (and all the others) had become...that is what is sad.

Well, it's still on lay away, but it's going to be home soon. My next 10 is a pre-Model 10. Very pre-Model 10.

Military & Police Model 1905 3rd change, probably made in 1909 according to Radagast.

I'm going to need to do something about that ugly beat up nickel plating; just not sure what yet.

I'm fond of the Model 10,...owned a few over the years.

These days I have a 4" round butt and a 5" square.

I'm a S&W K-Frame guy. I have a 4 inch tapered barrel square butt w/Tyler T-Grip adapter .38 SPL Model 10-5 from 1970 and a 3 inch heavy barrel round butt .357 MAG Model 13-3 from late 1982. Photos of the M13-3 are on THR elsewhere. I'll post photos of the M10-5 soon.

I was moving some boxes out of a closet storage and ran across a gun I forgot I owned. I packed it away almost 15 years ago. It's a Smith & Wesson model 10-7. If anyone could help me date this gun, I would appreciate it. The serial number (stamped on the butt of the grip) is 5D86470. It has the original flat wooden S&W grips. It is in near mint condition. I bought it used MANY years ago. I've searched around and cannot seem to get a lock on it's age (I think the late 60's early 70's) or it's current value. If you can help...THANKS in advance.

I know we are talking M10s here .... but I have a couple stainless versions to share in the M64. Of all my handguns (and I have plenty) I always come back to these for fun shooting at he range.

someone asked about 200gr ammo. I've shot over 1000 200GR LRN through my 38s, I like them because they raise the point of impact enough that I can utilize my 6 o'clock hold for a better sight picture- whereas many of my fixed sight 38s put the 158s POA=POI.

Well, I have to put myself in the camp of those who like the Model 10. There is just something about them that feels right. They are accurate, pretty, easy to carry, & with some of the loads available now, are powerful.
