Paid for a S&W Model 41 this past Tuesday and being in California no gun until next Friday. The gun wasn't actually on property but was at their warehouse so we were able to dros w/serial. That said I'm curious how many magazines come with a new model 41?

And besides Clark Custom Guns any other good smiths should I ever reach a point where I need some work done to the gun?

Thanks guys... and this is my first post ;)

At first I was thinking "another revolver thread in the auto forum:rolleyes: " Then I noticed that, contrary to the title, you're talking about the .22LR S&W model 41.

My dad bought one and it came with 2 mags. Additionals are up there pricewise. Can't help you with the gunsmiths. Seems like it's harder and harder to find a good one. Maybe the American Gunsmiths Guild can help out with that. www.americanpistol.com

Model 41 pistols come with two magazines as standard.
Unless your state prohibits more than 10 shots in the magazine, a new Model 41 should come with two 12 shot magazines now.

With the S&W lifetime warranty there is no real reason to send it anywhere else.
Any outsource internal modifications will automatically void the Smith and Wesson warranty.

Recent experience with friends that have purchased new or LNIB fairly recent models indicates that you either get a really good one or a really bad one...very little middle ground. Saw 2 in the last 11 months that keyholed badly at 25 yds - S&W took care of those. Others put everything into a quarter size hole at 50.

This is very correct. If you buy one, shoot the hell out of it first and determine what you might like to have done. It may be just fine out of the box. About the only thing I can think of is the possibility that you may want a triggerjob. S&W custom shop may be able to help out with this.

Neat trick for the S&W M41:
Buy an extra barrel without rear sight and mount a 2X pistol scope on it. You can switch barrels quickly just by lowering the trigger guard and replacing barrel. Sights on both barrels stay zeroed. Now I can switch from open sights to scope or vice versa in just a few seconds.

Good shooting and be safe.

I just bought one of the new 41's about 6 months ago. It's my favorite 22 pistol by far, I have over 2500 rounds through mine without any problems at all, it will even run all day on the cheap Federal 550 value packs but for accuracy CCI standard vel and Green Tag does the best.

Mine came with two mags but they were 10rd'ers

Why would you want to send it anywhere other than to a five-star shop? Clark has done work for me on and off for the past eight or ten years. It has always met or exceeded my expectations.

No reason, I'm just wanting to do my research while I have time is all. I highly doubt that I will need to send it to anyone anytime soon but I want to make sure if it comes down to it I know who it should go to. I'm really looking forward to shooting it next weekend.
