The front sight on this gun, previously, was metal whereas the rear sight was polymer. I heard that the rear sight has been changed to metal, now. It has always been a direct replacement with the M&P rear sight which is metal. Can anyone confirm this change?

It was probably a no extra cost change for Smith, as it will negate the need to make the polymer sight. The rear sight can now come from the same parts bin as the M&P. :)

All the pictures I'm seeing on Gunbroker of new guns still look like they have a polymer sight. I've had mine for a while (about 2 years) but it came with polymer.

Are you perhaps thinking of the original SD series? They came with M&P metal night sights and then when the SD VE came out they switched to the polymer rear.

Even if you do order one there's always the chance that you could get one that has was made a while back pre-change (assuming they did change it). Worse case scenario though an M&P rear sight only costs around $15.

No, the chap who made the statement implied that it is the latest production of the latest "VE" that went from front sight=metal and rear sight=polymer to the now shipping version that has front sight=metal and rear sight=metal, also!

I guess a call to S&W Cust. Svc. might clear it up.

I had forgotten where or who had made that statement, but in a reverse moment of senior memory I remembered, and now have an inquiry to him for confirmation, or conformation from anyone else.
