Could anyone confirm that the .45 Shield takes the same sights as the 9mm? Thanks in advance.

P.S. The model chart at Truglo site seems to imply that the conventional M&P guns and the Shield line share the sights even. So the chances are pretty good. Here is what it says:

"TG13MP1A: S&W® M&P (including SHIELD & .22 models, excluding .22 Compact / C.O.R.E. models), SD9 and SD40 (excluding VE models)".

I just bought one and I love it. It is very thin and carries easily. As far as effectiveness out of a 3.3 inch barrel. Check out the lucky gunner tests using a cw45 Kahr. Winchester ranger t 45 penetrate 14 inches and expands to 1 inch. Other loads work well also.

Just bought a Shield 45 w/o thumb safety. Shoots great, fits my Shield 9 holster and has a better trigger.

Since when do us gun nuts need a '' logical"reason to buy a gun?

The Shield 45 was the reason I justified "to myself" trading my 40 Shield for the 9mm version.
Can't have two Shields that close in caliber... ;)
Now I'm just waiting for prices to come down another $50.
The last 45 Shield I saw was going for $478 + the kings fee.

Sure, I get that, and I don't begrudge anyone buying, or avoiding, whatever the hell they want, just cuz, I've done it myself a few times. But do you have any rational, substantive reason for not wanting a 9mm, or is it......just cuz?
Like it or not, in a small, lightweight CC carry piece, a pistol loaded with a quality 9mm round is about as practical, economical, and effective as it gets.

Cuz 'Merica that's why.

Also I have concerns about over penetration with 9mm vs 45 ACP if I have to fire in public.

But...I may still go with the Shield 9mm. I just think the 45 presents less chance of a round going far beyond its target.

For me, ankle sized handguns are ideally suited for 9mm. I have more 45 ACPs than any other caliber, and I think they make good sense in duty sized sidearms, but if you ask me, the subcompacts are ideal for 9mm.

I am looking at the PC version for $478.00, but just can't justify another 45cal sub compact gun, unless I get rid of my XDS, which I never carry, and shoots great. It just is blocky with anything over a 5 round mag in it. I may as well carry my 30 S, With 11 rounds in it. It no longer is pocket sized, even though I can wear it in cargo pants. It's amazing how a little material here of there makes a gun possible or unlikely to carry. I did carry a 40 shield when they first came out, but it never felt right, for me the grip was too thin for the recoil of the 40. I sold it, and should have tried a 9. But now the 45 has caught my eye.
If I can't carry a gun concealed, I no longer will buy it. There are so many pretty guns, you are always tempted, but they are useless if at home locked up in a safe, and you are being sought after by a perp or two who aren't going to wait for you to go home and come back with that doubble stack 10 you just bought That weighs almost 4 lbs loaded.
