Sigma Trigger Job

Hey all.

I have been reading a lot about Sigma trigger jobs, I have one and just preformed the Spring Removal and dry firing the gun it feels slightly different but I have no idea how much it will actually change.

Has anybody ever done a Spring removal on their Sigma and if so what do you guys think about it?

I will take my gun to the range this week when I find time and write up a good review about it for everybody.

I removed the "pigtail" spring, swapped out the guide rod spring for a lighter one, and polished the heck out of the sear. When I got it back together, it was like a totally different gun. My buddy , who carries a G17 every day, coudn't believe the difference. Mine is very dependable and quite accurate at SD distances.

The spring job seems to be a common, and popular fix.

It might void your warranty, though.

I've had about five or six done this way:

call S&W customer service
tell them the trigger is "rough and gritty"
DO NOT tell them it's "stiff"
they'll email postage to you
send them the frame
about 2 weeks later you'll get it back
smooth as buttah...like night and day

With the number of complaints regarding this I'm surprised Apex or the like hasn't made a drop-in kit for the gun. Their M&P trigger kits are quite highly regarded and I'm sure there are enough Sigma owners out there to make it market viable.

I bought a 40ve and the trigger was very nice out of the box. I thought "what is all this complaining about the Sigma trigger"

Then I bought a 9ve and the trigger was horrible. How bad was it? It was so bad it was almost impossible to fire. I removed the "pigtail spring" and replaced the trigger return spring with something lighter. Now it's almost as good as the 40ve.

Range report:
I did the spring removal and took it to the range. I was a little nervous to fire it.

I racked the slide and instantly noticed it stopped about a 1/4in from going all the way back forward. This made me greatly concerned. I cleared the gun and broke it down and looks and made sure everything was in the proper place and even pulled out the manual and checked it one more time (I did this three times at home)

I tried it again and the slide went all the way forward and chambered a round. I took am and did a slow trigger pull to fire it for the sole purpose of making sure it functions properly. Even with my ear pro on I heard the pin fire but it didn't fire. I cleared it again and looked at the primer and it wasn't even struck so there was a problem.

Now being sorta angry (haha) I one more time broke it down and di another complete check. People are now looking at me like I'm crazy, sitting on the floor at the indoor pistol range with a huge fold out gun map and a gun in a trillion parts.

Back together, load it. I snapped the trigger back and it went off just fine. 2 shot double tap and they both went off. Load another mag with two rounds pull the trigger fast and it fires, then slow pull the trigger and another click but no fire.

What do you guys think.

I picked up a 40ve for a house gun and i did change the striker spring for a lighter wolff spring. Used some 1000grit w/d sand paper oiled to polish the contector and the cam in the trigger group. Cut both the inner and outer spring in the trigger assemble and dumped that lower spring. Nice 6lb trigger pull now. Super glued a rubber bump between the frame and backside of the trigger and trimmed as needed for a over travel stop. I have 400 rounds shoot and works really well now.
