Now I understand...

"I just picked up my SW9VE Allied Forces. The gun is great. The fit and finish are perfect and the flashlight is top notch. I can't beleive this gun cost me under $300.00.
Now I just cleaned up the gun and it was DIRTY. The patches turned black when I wiped the slide down...thats dirt right(I hope its not the finish)? Anyhow if you guys have any suggestions on what I can/should do to break in my gun please let me know."

I went to the S&W forum and found YOUR post...

What a perfect way to make my point. YOU can't believe it cost under $300 and you don't even how to break it in!

Blue light special....your'e busted. And don't think I'm stupid enough to believe that the S&W forum is a reliable place to validate your baseless self serving claims.

Are you even old enough to own a gun? How do you break in a Sigma? I can't believe you even asked that...

Are you out of paintballs or airsoft ammo and bored...?

This is posted in a sticky at the top of the forum. Those posts are quite useful.

At THR, personal attacks and name-calling simply are not acceptable for folks wishing to remain members. Sadly, this poor behavior is being seen more and more often in this section. We can certainly disagree on topic content but we don't attack the poster personally. If someone writes, "The XYZ pistol is the best ever made in history," it's likely to draw some holding a different or even opposite view. Fine! Discuss away! It would be fine to respond, "I agree (disagree) because...." and so forth. It is not fine or acceptable to respond with something like, "Dude, you've lost your mind or what little you actually have" and so forth.

I personally have never seen a Sigma on any LEO hip...

I have. Several years back at the annual Virginia Beach PD police pistol match. All the officers from a dept whose name escapes me (might have been Hopewell, but it's been so long I can't be sure) had them. They had Sigma 9Fs (the early models). The guns were dept issue. These poor guys had lots of problems. Didn't have a Sigma at that point but these guys caught my attention so I wandered on over and struck up a conversation with one of them. Now, at this point I can't tell you where the problem was. They were using Sigmas but their ammo was also American Ammunition (not American Eagle, a Remington product). Other than that, I haven't seen them in any LE holsters. Also haven't seen any XDs in LEO holsters either. Or FNPs. Or Beretta PX4s.

Not an FBI agent (and I don't know any), but I have never seen any reference anywhere stating that the FBI ever issued the Sigma. Can't find any reference to any T&E. I read everything I find on the Sigma. Now, the S&W 1076 (3rd generation 10mm all stainless) was developed for the FBI and was issued. The guns developed a bit of a cult following among some agents and some positively hated it (the gripframe is wide like gripping a 2x4). The 1076 and transition to 10mm was done in response to a highly publicized Miami shootout in which the FBI issued 9mms failed to stop several criminals. The result was agents killed (I don't remember how many) after scoring multiple hits with their 9mms on bad guys. Wanna know what ended it? An agent with his .38 special backup gun. It was felt that the 9mm lacked stopping power and penetration, so the 10mm was rolled out along with the 1076. Eventually, the issue load was a reduced power 10mm load (10mm lite as it's called) with ballistics that were replicated by the .40 S&W which rolled out a few years later with the 4006 and Glock 22 being the first on the scene.

My apologies to the group. I only wished to see actual facts and am the victim of an unfortunate accident with this gun (KB fired out of battery).

My passion sometimes gets the better of me as I recount having a gun explode in my hand and limit my ability to enjoy shooting for quite some time.

Sometimes I want to save the world and forget the world can't be saved.

Flames in "off" position.

Southpaw;

I realized about the time I posted that post that I had about three different stories bumping around in my head. Sorry. Thanks for the info though.

This is one of the funniest HR threads in a long time.

About the Sigma, my experience is limited to a friend's three first gens, maybe S&W improved them. But the triggers were terrible, and they were all amomatics. No matter what ammo was used the things would jam. He bought one, had it replaced by the shop with another, and they gave him a third to replace the second because they wouldn't refund his money. After finally getting tired of him the shop relented and gave him a full refund. But three in a row new Sigmas with the same feeding issues turned me sour on them. One thing I could never figure out was the piece of material that looked like felt in the trigger area. What was its purpose?

I think that's either to help keep that spring lubed or to collect crud from in it. Either way it's fairly useless if you clean it regularly.
