In the interest of replacement parts compatability, would it be okay (safe & functional) to use the 9mm size firing pin commonly found in the Springfield 1911's in a Kimber that uses the standard .45 size pin?

Or would I be better off boring out the firing pin hole in the SA slide to work with the standard diameter pin?

ETA:
Both guns are .45, SA used the thinner 9mm fp with the corresponding smaller hole in their .45 slides.

NO

9mm firing pins are a smaller diameter then 45 firing pins. This is because of the higher pressures generated by the 9mm/ 38 super. They require a smaller hole in the slide so that gas doesn't blow through. Using a small pin in a large hole could result in hot gasses finding their way through.

It will also make a difference if your Kimber is a Series II gun and the safety is still intact. Kimber uses a proprietary firing pin for the Series II safety.
