SA custom shop has my RO for a little work. They have tweaked a few things under waranty, but told me today I would have to pay $45 for the slide to be re-parked.......kind of surprised, but oh well. I had already enclosed a check for a gold bead front sight to be installed while they had it, so after the phone call, and weeks added on at this point, I decided to do a couple of other things.

The trigger will be taken down to 3.5# and the rear sight will be worked over. I was going to swap out the stock adj sight for a Harrison fixed, but the CS guy suggested getting it dehorned. I agreed and asked that they also cut it out from .125 to .140. Gold bead front and .140 rear adjustable that won't cut like a knife.
Looking for opinions on my decision, anyone who has a similar set-up, etc.

Also kind of mad at myself that I forgot to ask about the width of the front sights they use.........guessing it's .125? The stock rear (.125) and thin black front was really hard for me to use.

p.s. - $40 for dehorning and widening the rear, $80 for the gold bead front and $100 for the trigger/action job........not too bad I suppose.

My factory front sight blade was 0.125" wide.

I also felt it took too long to get a good sight picture and swapped the front to a Dawson Precision tritium with white circle surround. It's a big improvement, and I would imagine the gold bead would be, too.

A dehorn on the rear target sight may do the trick. Let us know how it goes.

It has always been recomnned to if a CCW, have it at least 5lb trigger pull due to the stress factor one maybe under for a defensive weapon, but lighter for rapid target shooting.... I guess with such a light pull you may not even feel the trigger under stress and prematurely fire off an round. I do have 3.5 but are on my 3 gun shooting.

I think if you bought the Range Officer, you must have wanted the adjustable sights or else you would have bought another model in the Springfield line-up.

I would have them dehorn the adjustables. Though I think the Harrison is fine sight.

I have not used the gold bead, but it seems like an excellent idea.

Or you liked the price point while still getting the additional fitting, liked not having front cocking serrations, liked any number of other differences and didn't mind swapping a rear sight?

G27RR, you're spot on. I bought it as a base gun to build on and I wanted a gun without FCS, made of carbon steel, no ambidextrous safety. I am not really a fan of adjustable sights, but with them being rounded off, I may like them.
With everything Springfield's custom shop has done (a lot more than I listed above.....I'll post a review when I get it back) all I will do in the future is get some front strap checkering and have the gun blued........as close to a Colt Royal Blue as possible.
