I recently took out my Luxembourg contract FN-49 rifle in 30.06 to shoot for the first time (well, I'd put one round through it before, but I stopped shooting because the primer blew out of the case- I wanted to be safe and have it checked out.). Anyway, we put 20 rounds thorugh it (all we had) and I enjoyed it very much, it's a great rifle. So now I'm thinking about one or two accessories for it. First, a bayonet- just 'cause it's cool. I've already found a place that supplies them for $35, so unless there's a better deal I might go with that.

Second, a muzzle brake. My gun has the threaded barrel, so a muzzle brake would be easy to attach. I'm pretty sure they're out there somewhere, because I think the Argentinian-made ones have it. Although the gun has little recoil in the first place, A muzzle brake would still be good to have- partly just to make the gun look more badass :D. It can't in any way be a flash hider, the Kali Gestapo's got a problem with that. Is there anything else that fits on the threaded barrel that's Cali-OK and a cool accessory?

Any help out on where to find these things would be appreciated. Thanks

Different breaks and flashhiders have different types of threading. I don't know what kind of threading the FN-49 has, maybe you can ask someone who doees. I do know that since the FN-49 has a fixed magazine, you can put on a flash hider. I'd avoid the muzzle brake unless you really need it to reduce recoil, due to the noise signature.

Actually, I believe the magazine DOES count as detachable, at least on the federal level. Pretty stupid, though, seeing that the magazine does not hold ammunition outside of the gun.
