I want one bad!!! I definatley think for 3 gun it would rock and for range fun, However, I'm having a hard time understanding if it's really practical or just novelty. The main benefit I can think of, is that it would be faster for reloads with mags. Anyone have one and can chime in on how it perfoms, is it reliable, accurate? What capacity mags dos it come with and what are the higest capacity available. Do you think it makes a good HD shotgun?

The ones I have all ran right out of the box and also run 100% with even the cheap stuff. There are two different gas settings if your having problems running light loads you may be on the wrong one.

They require a break in period of about 100-200 rounds to function properly. I found Federal bulk pack is the cheapest stuff that works in mine. After the break in mine cycles the way it should. Beautiful shooter.

I had to send my Saiga-12 in for repairs.
Watch out for the Vodka Specials. The modification add up to $$$ but all in all much better then the Streetsweeper I had.

Bear in mind that running a Saiga 12 at most 3Gun matches will put you in open class.

Maybe, maybe not. The fact is there is a lot of variation in saigas. I've seem a number of them run great from the first shot and others that didn't, some even require some real work to get them to run right.

I've done a search but still have a couple questions...

we shoot 2-gun and fun steel where we are limited to a number of rounds, can a shell be put in manually or can the saiga be modified for that?

We also have to switch (although rarely) between shot and slug, what is the best way this can be done?

As to your second question, my method is simply to have a designated slug mag. Change mags and either manual cycle in a new round in or fire the chambered round into a berm and then take your shot with the slug. Then swap back to bird shot.

No, not really.

You probably don't have the right number of / correct size gas ports. Most people waste their time with magic plugs and springs and pucks and such because they fail to fix the real problem - the gas ports - at its root.

My 19" 4-port model spits Wal-Mart birdshot on setting 2 flawlessly in factory configuration right out of the box.

The gun fixer plug isn't a waste even if your gun functions fine. The ease of changing settings alone makes it well worth the purchase price. People don't buy new pucks for function (or at least they shouldn't) they buy them for a cheap and easy compliance part.

As I said Dark Night my Vodka Special went back for repairs. 3 holes re-drilled. Reading the Saiga Board most have 3 holes.
Kinda neat how a $500 shot guns can easlily suck up well over $500 more in modifications like furnature, puck, and mags.
As I said much better than the Street Sweeper I used to have.

DARK KNIGHT So when i sent it to Cadiz Gun Works does warranty work on them they only redrilled the 3 holes it had...how is 4 better did you drill it or is it one of the older ones that came with 4? I have about $1100 in my Saiga 12 now. A money pit.

It all depends what model and what size. The 19" model is supposed to have 4 ports from the factory, 22" has 3 from the factory.

If properly drilled to the right size, they will work great right out the box. If not, one of three things (or a combination) are wrong:

1. Ports not big enough
2. Not enough ports
3. gas block is slightly misaligned and blocking a port

Mine had 4 from the factory. If yours was a 3 hole gun, when you sent it back they either enlarged the 3 ports and/or opened up the hole in the gas block itself. A gun with 3 large ports will work just as well as one with 4 ports if the size is right. I am guessing you sent it back to CGW? If you did they definitely did it right, no worries on your ports. I believe CGW's Standard is being able to run Federal birdshot on setting 2. It all depends model to model and how the repair is done.

Any Benelli Semi-Auto will run you $1000+ out of the box. AND if you want to be competitive in open, you have to add extended tubes, speed tube-loading ramp, ports, optics, etc. etc. and the Saiga-12 will still beat it.
