Well, after dismissing getting a Saiga because of the inflated prices, I saw a "used" (looks like it is NIB or once-fired) .410 in the rack, and the price was right...so i gave in to temptation and took it home.

Right off the bat, i knew the sporter-stock was not going to stay...cheap and plastic, poor balance and poor trigger-pull...but i live in CT, and legally have to have a thumb-hole stock if i move the FCG forward. No problem, i thought, and ordered up a tromix/tapco S410 FCG, some 4 rd mags, and a choke set (since i intend to use the gun for skeet, clays, and birds); and then went down to the man-cave and got to work.

Well, the conversion went very easy, and when the FCG showed up in the mail, i dropped it right in....however, the "Made in USA" was ground off the hammer....so without a receipt in hand, its kind of like i'm one piece short there...so i've been looking for a gas piston, and only see them listed for the S12 and S20; can anyone shed some light on this for me? Are S410 922r-pistons available?

Then next issue is the stock and forearm: I'd like to get some nice wood stuff; i'd like US-made, and (legally must have) a thumbhole....and the only option i've come across is a fellow with the handle BattleRifleG3; but he hasn't returned my email of a week ago, so i'm not holding my breath there. Great looking stuff though. I am also a fan of his forearm - it looks like the factory one but made of wood. That vs. Dinzag's press-on upper/bolt-on lower (which would cost more than the gun)...i'd rather have a beautiful piece of matching AAA wood there for the same price, instead of a run-of-the-mill looking AK part.

I'd also go for an AK-type front sight, but not for $90...are there any AK-family front sight blades that would work on the S410 barrel? Sight height and bbl diameter-wise? The problem with being in CT is there's no AK's around to measure this sort of thing.

So, do you know of any great resources i do not? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading -Desidog

I should add that the 922r compliance is necessary for dropping in a big magazine; not the thumb-hole stock/FCG move.

You might get more answers at the Saiga forums since they're pretty much dedicated to this gun. Will a regular AK wood thumbhole stock work?

Yes any stamped AK stock will work. It's the front handguard that takes some doing to get on a Saiga.
