Saskatchewan waterfowl hunt.

It is a mom and pop and son operation and they work their butts off to accommodate their clients.
We were up at 3am every morning and in the fields with a new setup every morning before shooting time. We took limits of either geese or ducks every day we hunted. Only lacking a few birds of having the limit of both one day. We averaged 50 birds/4 hunters/day.
We shared the lodge with a great group of guys from Alabama who were there to bear hunt. They were all successful and tagged out early (4), then caught limits of walleye out of chitek lake for two days!

We only got done early one evening and enjoyed the campfire and a bottle of salted caramel bourbon, and shared hunting stories and pictures off our phones until late. 20230905_182536.jpg
I will tell you brothers that central Saskatchewan is a sportsman's paradise. A great combination of farmland, provincial forests, and lakes. Elk. Moose, whitetail, mule deer. Bear, waterfowl, grouse.....and great fishing. IMG_8547.jpg
The entire team at DUCK DUCK GOOSE OUTFITTERS treated us like family. Their lodge is comfortable and clean. The food was excellent and timed to our schedule. Our game was processed , frozen, and packed in our coolers according to regulations and we breezed right through customs with our birds at the border.
I can't say enough praise for our outfitter. DUCK DUCK GOOSE OUTFITTERS.

@Armored farmer, what hoops to bring your game back?
Looks like an awesome trip. I appreciate you sharing it with us
You may bring three days limit across the border accompanied by Saskatchewan hunting license, harvest report/documentation, identifying wing left on the carcasses, meat must be bagged /tagged with your name and date.(out outfitter took care of this) firearm declaration,
FYI....nobody even looked at our guns. They did however, look in our meat coolers.....but just looked in two of the six.....gave us the thumbs-up and we were on our way......easy-peazy

If it were in Minnesota it would be called DUCK DUCK GREY DUCK OUTFITTERS. Glad it was a great trip, and I'll pass the good recommendations along to friends thinking of a Canadian hunt.

I have seen no snow geese at all this year. By all accounts American hunters are pissed.

This is what it's normally like.

the few flocks of Snows that we saw in Saskatchewan were really high and southbound.
We have them like that here too. Enough birds to cover 40 acres.
When the migration is on, we can see flocks appearing in the northern horizon and flocks dissappear on the southern and flocks scattered in the sky in between.
It's incredible.

According to a quick google search, ducks and snow geese spend the winter in the US and Mexico, which makes me question why US hunters come to Saskatchewan to hunt them.

I think the recent Saskatchewan law regarding needing permission from the farmers to hunt on their land has reduced the amount of hunters significantly. I often used to see hunters about , not so much now.

Some US hunters follow the migration from the start up there in Canada, all the way down through the Dakota's, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, etc.
While I liked getting the odd shot at some passing through, I was never that devoted to hunting snows. We usually concentrated on mallards or bluebills, and always set out a half dozen or so honker decoys, dropping a honker was always a big bonus for the day.
