Got a chance to shoot this and sight it in late yesterday afternoon. Wish I could have shot more but ran out of time.

After finishing my weekly league targets I decided to set this up on the bench and give'er a go at sighting in. I don't usually do this but this was done at 200yds, from a bench, on a rifle that was just freshly cleaned and never fired before with an unsighted scope..

For ammunition I had 1 box of Hornady Black 105gr and one group of 20 handloads that were made up of some old Sierra 80gr SP left over from a 243 loaded over the top of 4 different weights of Benchmark.

Very first shot went somewheres into Gods Country, not on the paper 18" Shoot' n See! So pulled the bolt and rechecked the bore sight. It was way low and right, so readjusted. Second shot. bull high on the right edge of the target. Third shot, bull low inside the 9 ring. Fourth shot, Bull high inside red bullseye. Took another could to try and tune zero.

After that I moved to the high 1" dot at the top of the target. First shot was center bull, low 2", next was center bull right 2". third and fourth formed the low triangle under the bull. The next two were wide and above the 9ring. Those two were also hotter loads than the previous.

Overall impressions after this short session. 1. the scope mount on this rail and the stock comb do not meld well together. Found more of a chin weld than cheek weld. 2. This plastic stock has to go. 3. need to open this up and adjust the Accutrigger as this is very heavy.

What stock are you looking at for a replacement?

I highly recommend Leverevoultion powder I’ve yet to find anything that was more accurate.

Yes once you adjust that accutrigger down I think you will be very happy with it.

So here it is in it's new ware. Boyd's At-One Thumbhole with an Athlon Argos 8-34X56 glass.

Tried turning down the spring but looks as if it was already as low as it would go. Still thinking that 20MOA rail is going to also have to go away.

I have the same model, an Switchback, I’m guessing, also with an Athlon, in a Magpul stock. I ran it with some LeveRevolution in a variety of loads up to max with 107 OTM. Also a few groups with Hornady factory ammo. This was 0.020 off the lands, at a bench for 100 yards. I’m hopeful for improvement. I ran another batch of the same loads going 0.010 off the lands. We’re going to see how that goes. Good luck with yours, nice stock!

Highly looking forward to seeing how far this will go and how accurate it can be. Should be a bit different than the 223 I've been shooting for the past 3 years. This will be strictly as short to medium range target rifle as I do not hunt.

Same here.

My first target with Hornady Black 105 grain BTHP @ 100 yards. I can’t remember if it was in the factory stock, or after I put it in the Magpul.

Hope you get better results than the one I posted. Seriously that was done with a junk load that was thrown together with leftover components. All I was looking for was to get the new scope on paper. I have some factory 105gr that I will post as soon as I shoot them.

I’m sure glad to see the surge in demand and popularity of the small efficient cartridges. I had a couple of SKS and a Ruger Mini.30 in 7.62x39 and thought it to have much potential.
A shooting buddy got into some informal bench rest shooting and acquired several Sako M75’s in .17Rem, .22PPC, and 6mmPPC.
The unadulterated accuracy and efficiency really impressed me.
I badly wanted a MkX mini-Mauser in 7.62x39 but had other expediences at the time.
I now have TWO 6.5 Grendel’s. A BCA AR15 upper and a recently acquired Howa Mini. Witha heavy taper, helical fluted barrel, the AR is too heavy to be a practical walking woods rifle.
On the other hand, Howa hit it out of the park with the 1500 mini. Mine weighs under 7lbs scoped, it’s under 1moa for five shots with ammo it likes.
The Hornady 95gr Vmax at 2,800fps blows 15lb Armadillo’s into multiple pieces even at 200yds. A single 120gr Amax did an amazing job on a 180lb 8pt buck.
I’m looking forward to doing more load development.
