I have a Savage Model 10 243 1:9.25 twist (I assume). I was trying to measure the distance to the lands to seat a bullet (nosler 95gr BT), I got 2.734 by seating at bullet and using the lands to set it back. I did this about 10 times and came up with the same figure. The data for the Hornady 105gr Amax lists that min oal to be 2.760. If I go with amax's at 2.760 will push the bullet too far into the lands or will the shape allow safe placement?

Thanks,

If you hit the lands at 2.734 then yes, 2.760 would put you into the lands. I would suggest you load one round (dummy) at 2.760 and see if it does in fact hit the lands. You should be approximately 0.010 at least off the lands (I personally go for 0.020 as there is too much variation in most bullets).

I was also looking at the 95gr Sierra Matchkings. Does anyone know if these would be stabilized in the 9.25 twist of the savage?

Check the box on the 105gr. AMAX bullets, the ones I have specify a 1-in-8 twist or faster. I know that out of my Remington 700 .243, which I believe is 1-in-9 twist, they do not stabilize even at top velocity.
Best accuracy I've gotten from my custom 1-in-10 twist .243 Mauser was with the 92gr. Lapua Scenar, which is amazing.
IMHO

The 95 gr Matchking isn't shown in Sierra's current manual, no idea why. Only the 107 gr Matchking is listed as requiring a 1x8 twist or greater. I would call Sierra and ask to make sure.
