Savage m-10 won't eject empty brass

Well it used to do it just fine, but now after my last range outing the empties just fall off of the bolt into the magazine well.
Live cartridges eject just fine.
Oh by the way it's a .223 blind magazine.
The last time I had it out it shot and worked just fine. When I cleaned it at home the extractor slipped out and I put it right back in. The little ball is still there and the ejector plunger has plenty of spring.
Have any of you had this kind of problem?

My .223 Model 12 is starting to act up as well. Same problem. I've already replaced the extractor/ball and spring before. It extracts just fine, but doesn't eject with much force, 50% don't clear the receiver. I'm probably over 3000 rds throught the rifle now, so I imagine another part is worn out.

Ejector plunger and or spring. Or simply a fouled ejector.

Clean thoroughly, if this doesn't help...replace the ejector plunger spring.

How do you know...? change the spring to be sure!

Ejector springs are cheap. Swap it out and see what that does for you.

This happened to me recently, and it turned out to be Federal ammuntion. All other brands cycle fine, fired or unfired. Must have a slightly different rim shape.
