Sent an A22 mag in to Savage for repair. It has many faults but my question is how long before I can expect it back? Savage customer service is shaky at best. At least that’s been my experience. Has anyone else ever sent a Savage in for service and how long did it take.

Not shaky in my past. Impossible to answer. Be patient.

Long time ...they never contacted me the gun was shipped back. Was left at the gate to my horse farm ten feet from the road.No signature required.....go figuere.

I've only ever dealt with them on ordering parts, never on actually doing repairs.

Parts cost me an arm and a leg, should have got them off Midway, but beyond that, no real complaints.

I think it's standard operating procedure to not say anything is a firearm.
Ive had two guns tossed over our fence by the ups guy. One was a cassed small bore 101 skeet set Id sent off for repairs..... luckily it was unharmed.

First, we used to have the same fex and ups guys for years . Box's got left in the barn and in a old mercury I have. No more!! The US mail lady throws stuff in the front yard if our mean blue healers are laying on the porch.

Second, the extractor broke on my first .223 savage and I called savage. They sent two for free. That rifle is a heavy barrel .308 now if I'm remembering right. Tried an axis when they first came out. Wouldn't feed from the mag. Gun shop sent it off on my birthday and got it Friday before Easter. 6 weeks.

We have a F150 with a cracked intake. Been waiting for a replacement for 22 months.

My only experience with Savage was to purchase another "c" spring that holds the extractor in a MK II 22. Some are not strong enough to hold the extractor on the shell rim and the simple fix is to add another as there is plenty of room. The nice lady I spoke to said she would drop one in an envelope and send it to me at no cost and I had it in less than a week. I have no idea what happens when you return a gun for service.

I had similar experience as hh, w/Savage parts. Called asking for an adjustable cheek piece/and mounting screws for a Savage scout; received no charge. Don't remember turnaround but was very pleased at the time so must have been pretty quick.

I have the Savage model 40 Varmint Hunter single shot in 22 Hornet with that problem, did the same as you and also reprofiled the extractor, bought them from Numrich, called Savage and they told me they didn't have the parts for that model, took a shot on the rimfire MKII parts fitting and fixing the problem and was happy with the results.
