Do you find it too heavy to be slung and carried for say 2-3hrs?
With the original stock, I'd say no for me personally. I'm also a big dude so take that for what it is. With the Boyd's stock it's noticeably heavier, but I still don't think I'd have a significant issue. My Marlin 795 would be easier to carry, no question, as it is noticeably lighter.
I think it's been mentioned, but the FV-SR has the same profile barrel but shorter, so that could save on weight while still getting the benefits of the heavier barrel. In any event, I think you'll be happy whichever route you go. Savage rifles really do outperform their price point.
