At a shop - It had no thumb safety. It was marked Beretta on one side of the slide and marked "Made in Brazil" on the other side. It was also marked "6.35", instead of .25.

???

Made in Brazil? Was this made for Beretta in Brazil before Taurus took over the plant?

I would have bought it, except the right grip panel was loose and just looked like it didn't fit right.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,
Steve

Beretta 950

Just bought one of these NIB, but made in Italy. The Italian ones are also marked "6.35" and are more desireable collectorwise, so cost somewhat more. I don't know much about the Brazilian ones, but they may be OK as shooters. Seems to me they were also made in the USA after the 1968 Gun Control Act, but this was for only a short time.

That's odd.

There is no safety on my Jetfire either. It is also marked 6.35, but says "Made in Italy."

Early model Jetfires did not have safeties - Yikes! Not sure about the Brazilian connection. Most Jetfires, the 950BS model, do have a safety. By the way, Beretta has discontinued the Jetfire. I love mine and won't ever sell her, but she is outdated, and that .25ACP is not much better than a high powered pellet gun in .20 or .22. I have done the backyard ballistics. They always say with a Jetfire, aim for the eyes. Sure it might eventually kill, but stopping power is abysmal.

Magsafes in Jetfires...

I read an article in "Combat Handguns" once written by a LEO who carried a Jetfire or a Seecamp as a "third gun". He stated that he liked the Jetfire best when loaded with .25ACP Magsafes. He had shot some beef roasts and some other stuff I can't remember. However, I DO remember him saying that the Magsafe stoked Jetfire did more damage in "his tests" than the Silvertip stoked Seecamp. He didn't seem like some "Ninny". He was quite articulate.
My INOX Jetfire is loaded with Magsafes and my Seecamp is loaded with
.32ACP RBCD's.
