There's a pattern here: Hands off Mexico, hands off Saudi Arabia, hands off the pork. More and more the rest is looking like a dumbshow.
Folks, if you read closely, you will see that the emergency money is not to do anything about illegal immigration -- it is to pay for the consequences of it (policing theft, doing autopsies, jail keep, etc.).
We can't even do that. Most of us are wage earners, and taxes are withheld and sent to uncle sugar. We have no way of not paying taxes. This farce will end only with, first, a tax revolt by American citizens,

"According to a recent poll, forty percent of Mexicans would move to the United States if they could. The percentage would have been higher, but the other 60% are already here." - Conan O'Brien.
Sounds like California. Are there any real Republicans west of the Mississippi? Belay that. We had one here, Tom McClintock, but he was painted as 'too extreme' for California.Don't forget that Guv Janet is running for reelection.
Not that she has anything to worry about. The Republicans don't have anybody to run against her!!
Naturally, as they are increasingly missing in action in our own laws, even if not explicitly. They disappear by being ignored or reinterpreted by our judiciary. These protections of cherished liberties must be swept away in order to merge us with larger international unions. While there is a strong middle class, this is very difficult to do, which is why efforts are being made to shrink the middle class, such as the creation of internatioal "free-trade" agreements designed to cause high paying middle class type jobs to pick up and move to India and/or Mexico. Ideally, they want to reduce all but the super wealthy to poverty/government dependant status. Such people are more docile regarding government power, and don't complain when the authentic liberties are done away with, so long as they get government benefits and the basic necessities of life.Hawkeye,
Let's say you're right. Their argument is that they are spreading peace and prosperity globally and if a few rough edges need to be smoothed out, tough. One of those rough edges would be the protections of individual rights we cherish in our Constitution. We've all noticed that some of the key provisions in our Constitution appear to be missing in action in the new Iraq constitution.
I have no solutions. Personally, I'm voting US Constitution Party, but I hold out little hope for success. Short of an eventual second secession war, I don't see a good outcome, and probably not even then. Now what?
