Just wanted to know how many of you guys are gonna be at the show this weekend. Maybe we could all try to meet up there or something? Would be cool to meet all the people I argue with all the time on here :)

What show where?

I'm in Columbia but I live in a cave.

Enlighten me.

If its over the weekend it'll be a no go since I gotta help a friend all day.

South Carolina is a rather large expanse. What show, where? Most of them suck, but I could use some S&B ammo or something. If it's not open til late, can't make it as I don't get off in time to drive anywhere.

I believe Liquid is talking about the show this weekend (June 14 and 15) in Columbia... down at the Fair Grounds... $6. I think it is the Cantey Building, but anyway, its at the Fair Grounds.

Yes Sportcat, that's the one I'm talking about. The fairgrounds show is usually not as good as the Jamil show, but the last Jamil show was pretty poor so I'm hoping this one will be better. Don't ask me about the logic of that.

I'll be there around 4:30 or so. Look for the Molon Labe hat.

We do need to have a SC get together some evening.. Or weekend.

If its raining.....

I might go.... normally see the same people there that are at Jamil..... but.... maybe we'll see a P-3AT or something new that I "Just have to have..."

If I go, I'll have on a Penn State hat..... maybe meet a fellow THR'r

Jack

I'll be there, complete with the Molon Labe hat. No idea when, though.

Of course, at the last Jamil show, i wore that hat for two hours, and not a single person commented on it, or even showed any sign of recognition.

Was planning on going, but the wife works and the last time a tried to take the four kids with me all I heard was "Can we go yet?" Until they saw the candy baskets on the tables! Then they were on a candy hunt. Worked until their pockets were full. Besides, they have a swim meet to make up on Sat due to last nights rain storm and I'm out of mad money at this time :(

I'll probably be there on Sunday. I would like to make it Saturday, but I am tentatively scheduled to go offshore to find some sea critters for dinner.

For those unknowing, Land of the Sky hosts the show. They are the ones that do the SC Fairgrounds about twice a year and Florence once or twice. The shows are okay, but nothing like the C&E shows up at the Metrolina Center in Charlotte.

As mentioned, it is $6 admission but that doesn't include the new $1 fee to park.

Edited -- Hey, outfieldjack -- Jack, is that you???

Just found out I'll be working Saturday. No idea what time I will begin or end (oh the joys of working surveillance  ) Hopefully I'll make it out there one of the two days.

Al's correct - we need all get together sometime.

I will probably go on Sunday. I am helping a friend all day saturday. It all depends on how sore the muscles are after a day of carpentry.

Got the little lady one of these today for her 26th birthday. The dealer cut me a deal because a buddy and I talked some old fella into buying a stainless Ruger MkII Slabside. The guy was hesitant about quality/accuracy, but we told him it was the greatest .22 since sliced bread. My buddy jokingly asked where his commision was and then we walked away.

We came back later, asked about the commission again, and he cut me about $25.

$225 out the door:

How was the show? Anything interesting? I got off work in time to go, but decided the $1 parking fee was ridiculous and enough reason for me to stay home. The Jamil show doesn't charge for parking, they have more upkeep of the available parking and less of it - I see no reason why the fairgrounds should charge for it.

Tension, it was kinda disappointing. More crap than I had ever seen before!

There these little Amish (?) ladies wearing those skirts with the wooden hoops to make them stick out 5' at the bottom -- they were making little crafts for Heaven's sake! Then, of course you had your beef jerky, your spices, your large selection of jewlerly, etc., but the funny lookin' crafts ladies put me over the edge this time.

My main reason for going was to get another 1911 for a project gun. Man, there are some proud 1911 owners out there. Thy obviously weren't too interested in selling thier guns. I keep my eyes open at all shows for 10/22s as well, but as usual, the 10/22s are cheaper brand new at Wal-mart. Go figure...

:banghead:

When that same show was at the fair grounds several months ago, I noticed the huge amount of "arts and crafts" then. I guess they need something to keep the wives interested.

Lots of crap and some high prices.

Sterling,
Was the same guy there trying to sell a couple of Colt XSE's for $2400? these local shows are a good joke. I think if you narrowed it down and weeded out all the crap, you would have about 5 or 6 tables at the show. Who did you get the Kel-Tec from? Best Bet Pawn out of Greenville usually has the best prices I've ever seen on them. I almost bought the same gun last year for $219 from them. I was saving up for my Garand, so I passed.
I did miss out one GREAT deal last fall at the Shriners show. It was a NIB Norinco 1911 copy for $225. The guy in line right in front of me grabbed it right as I was reaching for it. :fire: :banghead: :cuss: Missed that one!
