I was at a kids house up the street from me with a friend. Apparently my friend let him borrow a little crappy BB pistol(this one is solid black, with everything but the rear of the slide looking just like a 1911. You know, the kind that gets kids killed?) well he goes inside to get it and I step up on the stairs to sit down. He comes outside and in the process of me sitting down he decides it would be funny to point it two inches from my face(mainly my left eye) and pull the trigger.

Now.

No amount of :cuss: and :banghead: could describe my anger. I yanked it out of his hand and not so politely told him hes lucky I didnt beat the mess out of him. In which he tells me and I quote "Dude I shot all the bullets out of it, its ok!". I just said "You never :cuss: know if its loaded or not" and I just walked off. If he had come outside and I knew that was his instead of my friends, I would have grabbed it out of his hand and smashed it to pieces on the ground. Along with his face.

Anyone ever has those moments like after a bad car crash you walk away from(had a few of those) where you just sit there and think "poop poop poop poop poop poop" but you dont exactly word it that way? Well, lets just say I lit up a smoke and sat on my front porch shaking a bit.

Lucky him, and DEFINITELY lucky me!

You did the right thing. USing it to perform an emergency field colonoscopy would have given you only momentary satisfaction.

Good Lord, that was idiotic. I am glad for you that nothing bad came out of that situation. I think in this case I would have disarmed him in such a way that his shoulder and arm would not be usable for a week or so! The law was in your favor for that few minutes to work him over but good, and he would learn to never ever point a firearm at someone unless willing to put them down. Again, glad you were not hurt.

Someone (possibly on this board, I forget) was talking about a similar situation with their brother. She had some martial arts training, and did a jujitsu move to get the gun away from him, possibly hurting his wrist.

Depending on the age of this kid, that might have been appropriate in my eyes.

Even if the gun did have pellets in it, there's no way I want a pellet in my eye; I've got enough eye problems as it is.

Now the stinky liberal part of me thinks you should go back to that kid and explain, in mind numbing detail why you don't do that with guns. Preferably with some slides of what has happened to other people who mess with the 4 rules, and bloody themselves, or worse, kill themselves, or others.

Beating the mess out of him works too, especially if his folks won't do it. :cuss:

This kids 15. I knew better the day my dad gave me my first pellet rifle in first grade. This just makes me want to push for some kind of firearms safety class in schools.

When I decided my son was old enough to go to the range with me, I brought along my shotgun and a pumpkin and proceded to blow it up. It was a great visual for him on the power of a gun.. He's 24 now and is pretty handy with guns.

That boy needs a good talking to by his parents about gun safty. I don't know if I would have been as reserved as you.

some "friends".....

are NOT meant for a life time.

Was it wise to loan out the gun (it is a gun in my opinion....it can blind somebody) to someone without knowing whether or not they had a clue?

live and learn.....just make sure you don't skip the learning part

The guy that pointed it in my face isnt my friend, and im not gonna "big brother" the friend that loaned it to hims life. Im just not gonna hang around there anymore. And im definitely not gonna grant him leniency next time it might happen.

Shame he doesn't have a broken nose or arm or sprained wrist. That way after the swelling subsides you could explain the ironclad link between his <insert injury of choice> and stupidity of his actions.

Pain is remarkably effective in reinforcing lessons.

Good idea.

They have a class that teaches you how to take advantage of the First Ammendment, (it's called english class) so why not a class for the Second?

I disarmed my son's 10 year old friend of a cap gun he foolishly pulled out of his pocket about the same time I saw the red tip of the barrel. We had a long talk on how such things aren't conductive to longevity, and I think the direct agressivness of my disarm and the talk convinced him such things weren't in his best interest. He avoided our house for a week or two, it was kinda nice, this kid's the Eddie Haskell type.;)

How do you let anyone get within two inches of your eye? :what: That exceeds the limitations of my personal space boundaries by a bunch! Let's just say you're safe if you stay out of my reach. :D

The unfortunate aspect of this is that WHEN, not if, someone tunes this kid up, he will run crying that he was hurt for no good reason. Lack of common sense in that proportion is going to shorten his lifespan dramatically. I would stay away from him, and his friends, as bad luck will follow them.

I would actually fault you for not punching him. If he forgot how many rounds it had left you could have lost an eyeball.

I remember I was at a college party years ago and a townie (white guy dressed like snoop dog) pulled up in a jeep and began flashing a pistol while still in the car, and told us: he "owned campus." A second later he began shooting but it was only pellets. We were up on a deck and unfortuatnely, a few people were hit in the legs and backs. A fullback on our team (hopped up on jagermeister) saw this going on, and actualy ran directly at the jeep. The townie aimed at him but- click cilck he was out of ammo. The FB ran up full speed with a hay maker already in motion just as the guy is trying to drive off. His fist ending up going through the side window, breaking it.

A lot of damage to his jeep just to pull off a pointless "drive by" with a pellet gun.

I had a similar situation happen to me with a 13 year old neibor boy who decide to show me his pellet rifle. I choose to disarm him! Very unforgivenly!! His parents thought I overreacted at first then after hearing the whole story and thinking about things they decided that it wasn't so bad. I didn't hurt him bad just enough to make him think and to go "runnin home to mama". Moral of the story is if it endangers me then its my business!!!
