Over the course of a few years, hundreds (if not thousands) members of the Chinese military are given Honorable Discharges, and move to the US, Australia, and Japan (illegally through Mexico if neccessary). Just another drop in the pond of immigration. They have copies of their old uniforms as memorabilia, of course.
A defect is discovered in a type of cargo ship used by Chinese freight companies. The ships are recalled for repairs.
Then, one day, several things happen simultaneously.
North Korea launches an all-out assault on South Korea.
The Chinese Navy launches an attack on the American forces guarding Taiwan.
China declares open support for Islamic terrorists, and begins giving them lots of money to help with the Jihad.
The 'retired' Chinese soldiers put their uniforms on, join up with the rest of their groups, and attack vital infrastructure installations (like power plants and telecommunications hubs), using legally-purchased firearms to do so.
The now-repaired ships raise the flags of the Chinese Navy as they reveal that they have in fact been modified into carriers, transporting massive numbers of troops to Australia, Japan, and the Western US.
These troops use the chaos caused by their infiltrators to their advantage, securing all of the major ports they have landed in, and taking the enemy bases nearby by surprise.
90% of Australia's population lies in its ten biggest cities. Many of their military bases are nearby. The Chinese goal would be to take the cities, and the military bases by surprise, then push on to Canberra to take control of the country. The goal would be to prevent Australia from attacking Chinese ships in the Pacific, allowing their supply chains to move supplies and men to America without being devestated. Australia's goal would be to defend itself, and its allies. The Chinese would likely therefore focus on taking the major cities of the country, and not worry so much about farmers with guns. The near disarmament of the cityslicker's by Australia's government means that civilian resistance in the cities would be minimal (provided that they take control of any machining shops possibly used to churn out Stens after the fact).
I don't know enough about Japan to go into detail, but I would assume their basic strategies would be the same.
In America, they would concentrate on taking out the military, and securing what they have until more reinforcements arrive. Hiding amongst America's civilian populace would be a great help here, in preventing air strikes. Skyscrapers packed with civilians would be especially good.
What would America (and Americans) do?
