scenario for home invasion

I would give him a good talking too..and because people are basically good,he's see the error of his ways. Then we'd hug, sing "Cum By YA" and have a cup of tea and wait for the authorities.:uhoh:

It certainly looks like you are advocating shooting someone who was no longer a threat. Either that or you are advocating not even taking the time to positively identify the target as a threat.

Nothing you quoted me as saying can even come close to me advocating shooting someone who is no longer a threat. I'm clearly advocating just shooting them, not asking them to surrender. I'm advocating shooting someone that Florida law has already defined as a threat.

You seem to always forget that...

You can spin me as advocating not taking the time to positively identify the target as a threat, but that's going to get you no where. Unless you would care to imply that just about everyone here is too dumb to identify someone breaking into their home in the middle of the night.

I'd like everyone to read this article, especially the lines I highlighted. Maybe then you will understand where the chest beating bravado about shooting anyone you find in your house will get us.

What you highlighted in this article might actually hold some weight in this arguement if it weren't Democrats spinning a Republican sponsored bill. Do you honestly think they are concerned or is it simply partisan politics at it's best? I mean...come on.

They said the same things about Florida when we pushed our Castle Doctorine bill. Did Florida turn into a Dirty Harry movie? No. Did this bill turn usually quiet towns into war zones? No. Because contrary to what people like you and Democrats wish to believe, we are capable of defending ourselves with responcibility.

I don't mind you spinning what I say or what politicians say to support your arguement, but the more you do it the more you're coming off as a Democrat SWAT ninja that thinks only cops should have guns. (that should make us even on personal attacks)

nobody would consider just ordering them to get out or else?

Why?

So he can leave your house, thank god you didn't shoot him, then go rape your neighbor? Or simply wait until you're not home to go back in and take what is yours, that he came to get in the beginning?

Or because we should continue, in this country, to put the rights of the criminal before the rights of the law abiding citizens?

It used to be that way in Florida. You couldn't shoot unless you didn't have a means for escape. You couldn't shoot if you didn't have a clear threat of bodily harm. You had to already be a victim in order to protect yourself.

That is until one politician finally pulled her head out of her butt and said that was wrong. That it's too late to protect yourself when you're already the victim. That homeowners shouldn't have to already be a victim in order to lawfully protect their home and family. That from this day forward criminals who enter Floridian's homes do so at their own risk.

But it took a criminal breaking into her house and holding a gun to her head to do it.

I believe that the RKBA main statement when it comes to a persons rights is. One person has personal rights until they interfere with the rights of another person. So the "Intruder" has then lost his rights by "Intruding" in to my home. An Intruder defined as "any persons not invited and not wanted in a certain place, that comes into that said place with not Honorable intentions." That said eliminating or neutralizing any know "Intruder" is acceptable.

Apologies if this is a repeat of info, as I'm sure someone besides me on this forum knows this stuff;
Ok, the badguy is disarmed and has apparently given-up.
You tell him in a firm, distinct calmish command voice: ( as applicable)
"Kick that weapon towards me"
"turn around and face away from me. DO NOT look at me"
"Put your hands on your head in interlace your fingers"
"Drop to your knees, and roll forward onto your belly. Use your hands to ease down to the ground"
"cross you ankles and extend your arms to your sides, straight-out from your shoulders"
"Turn your palms up to the sky"
"DO NOT move until the Police arrive. If you move I will feel you're threatening my life, and I will shoot you in self defense"
"Do not move"
Repeat a required...

Precious.

They shouldn't have time to surrender.

I'm sorry, I live in Florida. Surrender isn't an option. It usually goes something like: BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, kick, twitch, BANG.

Then we'll worry about the formalities...

Absolutely precious. The invader is neutralized, no longer a threat after absorbing 5 rounds, so he gets kicked, and because he's somehow still alive the coup de' grace is then summarily administered.

Wonderful. Tell it to the prosecuting attorney and the judge just the way it was typed here on THR, ok? You'll get big brownie points for that one. :scrutiny:
