School me on the howdah pistol

The conventional wisdom is that shooting shot out of a rifled barrel will give you some weird patterns (doughnuts, etc). Do you not see this with the Howdah, perhaps because the barrels are so short?

I noted the linked adds spoke of doubles being brought from home by CSA cav troopers. Appearently Either the State of Alabama or CSA itself also contracted for purpose made coach guns from a place in Tallassee ( not Tallahassee with is in Florida) and as a kid I was thrilled to see one in the firearms collection at Chickamagua. I later saw one n the woods being used to hunt with, though it was in horrible shape and had liners brazed into the barrels to make it safe to shoot and a wire wrapped wrist where a crack had started at some point.
