The thread about the Oregon teacher got me thinking about this question.

What states allow concealed weapons permit holders to carry in/around/near schools?

WA

Washington allows CCW during school pickup/drop-off, no lingering. No case law yet, but it generally understood to mean you're OK in the car on school grounds while picking up or dropping off students.

They just spoke about the oregon teacher on the O'Reilly Factor and bill agreed that she should be able to carry because she had her CWP! Go bill! Atleast someone in the mass media is on our side.

In VA you're fine if you have your CCW and your concealing WHILE IN YOUR CAR...even if your child trips and almost gets struck by a car, you can't legally get out of yours...anyway...

My wife is a teacher in NV, CCSD.
She carries a P225 everyday. The whole point of CCW is CONCEALED.

Colorado is off limits to K-12, but universities are kosher with the special case of CU.

CU (aka the rioting communists of Boulder) will expel / fire any student or staff member who carries. No legal penalties per se, just university sanctions (think VT type rules).

any other states besides NH and UT allow carry IN schools?

Oregon

Not trying to be a wise-acher by listing Oregon, Just wanted to clarify, as some people I have talked to seem to think the teacher is suing to change state law, making it LEGAL to carry on school property. She is not. Anyone with an Oregon CHL can already legally carry in or around ANY school, at ANY time. She can leagally carry her gun in class now if she wants. She is suing because school district POLICY, which applies ONLY to employees, says she can be FIRED for bringing a gun to school. She cant be arrested though, only fired.Same with universities/colleges.All they can do is fire and employee, or expell a student, or ask anyone else to leave the property.None of those people can be arrested if they have an OR CHL, and leave when asked, otherwise, they can be charged with trespassing, but thats it.
