Rossi r92 .357 carbine 16" barrel.
What is better a Red Dot Sight or Reflex or a standard cross hair?

A low powered conventional scope works best for me. Something like a 1-4X20. If you just have to have an illuminated dot they make those scopes with an illuminated reticle.

Depends on the range you want shoot, the size of targets, and lighting situation.

I’ve used 2x scout scope, 4x standard scope, and tube type red dot on my .357 lever gun. I like them all for different reasons.

You can't really mount a scope traditionally over the reciever with the Rossi 92's

You can however run a forward mounted scout scope. Something in the 2-7x range would be pretty nifty.

I usually ran a smaller red dot on mine and it was a short range deer harvesting machine.

Optics aren’t for the rifle. Optics are for the shooter to help them accomplish their goals within their desired application. Shooting big targets at short ranges will benefit from a different sighting system than shooting small targets or long ranges.

For really close, big target shooting, like hunting deer at 50-75yrds max, I really like the Turnbull mount with a red dot. For anything smaller or farther, I want a magnified optic. Scout scope options which fit the 92 are relatively limited, pretty typically 2-7x, and that’s fine for relatively short shooting, which I assume is what you’re doing if a 92 carbine in 357mag is an appropriate solution for the application.

I kind of went through this with my .357 lever gun. I tried a red dot and a scout scope. Of the two, I liked the red dot better for what I used the rifle for.

In the end, I went back to irons. I like the rifle for how slim and slick it is. Adding to it took away from that. Still, since I discovered that trijicon makes an rmr with a 1 moa dot, I may revisit the matter on that rifle.

Dam for the moment all is on hold.
I went to pick up a rossi r92 .357 and when I got there WRONG GUN they sent a 44.
Went looking for the .357 and all I found was out of stock.
Now I guess I'll just sit here and cry in my beer.LOL

Sportsman's outdoor super store has them in stock. They're really good to deal with. Not sure if this is a good deal. Screenshot_20230627-201857_Chrome.jpg

Man, unless you're committed to .357 for some reason, I'd think about keeping the .44.

I got my .357 because I had .357 black hawk as well.

Well I put a Vortex Optics Crossfire II 2-7x32 Rimfire, Second Focal Plane, 1-inch Tube Riflescope - V-Plex Reticle On it.
It Died So back to the drawing board and looking for a new scope that won't break the bank.
Between a few pellet guns and a powder gun or 2 my wife keeps saying
(Your not very lucky when it comes to scopes and another scope?)

Reticle Keeps moving.
Not on an air gun on a Henry .357 Golden Boy.
Not having good luck with my air gun scopes either.
