I have a .357 Blackhawk that I have mounted a Burris reflex sight on. After some work on the mount I now have a solid mount and like using the sight. But some issues too. First is the brightness of the dot. It is adjustable. But in too large increments. The Ultra dot that this sight replaced had a lot more adjustments. The othe problem is that I cannot easily find the dot. I guess that is a matter of practice? So my question is what sights would be better in these regards? And do green dots still spread and flare as much as the red dots?

Regarding flare, do you have astigmatism? If so, you're boned as far as red dots go. They hate astigmatism.

I haven't tried tons of micro dots, but for me they have all been about the same. Cmore being a little better than the ff3, but not by a whole lot.

Have you considered a fiber optic front sight and just using irons? Or a 2x scope?

I appreciate you reply. Yes to astigmatism. I have a ghost ring setup on my other Blackhawk that is fast and works well for me at 10 yards or so But with the .357 I am looking to increase the sighting precision a little at 25 yards.. I have tried an Ultra dot on a screwed down Leupold mount and it did the job but is very heavy and ungainly. The reflex sight on a small Al mount screwed into 2 of the hunting holes for the Leupold mount seems so much lighter. You have provided an answer. That tells me that just randomly buyin a different sight in the same relative price range is not going to accomplish what I want. Front sights on blued Blackhawks are pretty much a take it or leave it proposition.-

What is the MOA on the red dot sight? I find with my astigmatism, a smaller dot on lower brightness is better.

I have red dot sights on several guns and plan on more. I’ve been very pleased with Swamp Fox brand red dots. They are 3 MOA. You can choose auto adjust or manual adjust.

A smaller dot along with keeping the brightness level set lower helps with astigmatism.

Now everyone's eyes are different. For me, a green reticle works better that a red reticle. The green blooms less for me.

You can get contacts or glasses that will correct for the astigmatism.

Lower power and smaller dots do help keep the "flare" down.

For some people, green is better than red. For other, the opposite is true. Green is a little better for me personally.
