Scope mount torque settings

Is the Loctite on scope ring areas contacting the scope for slippage ( as a bonding agent alone ) or is it to fill voids, kinda like a reverse lapping?

Many professionals/top smiths/shooters epoxy “bed” their rings - the intent is, as you described, building material to improve contact, rather than lapping.

I’d never heard of using blue loctite either to “glue” the scope into the rings, or as bedding either one, until that Facebook thread - or maybe I had blocked it from my mind if I had heard of it sometime years before... it wouldn’t be my bag...

I'm a firm believer in a torque wrench and a locking compound, I've always used blue on the bases and torqued to 30in lbs, I lap my 1" rings with a 1" shaft (broken cart axle) and valve grinding compound, (I am surprised how much some are off) torque the screws to 20in lbs with no loctite, I've not had a loose scope doing this
