Long time no talk THR, it's almost deer season again! I recently bought a new scope Nikon BuckMasters 4-12x50mm. I already had Weaver rings and bases for my last scope, but they rings were too low for this one, so do you think the 1" high rings would be high enough? I bought the see thru today but they don't work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Don't know what you are mounting the scope on but if the high rings don't give you clearance you could always consider adding a riser to the base if it is a one piece unit. Of course your head is going to have to be held pretty high so adding a cheekpiece might be worth considering as well.

Round numbers, you need to be 1/4" higher* for 50mm than 40mm. Generally, low bases work for 40mm, so medium or high rings or bases should do just fine.

* Okay, for the nit-picky, 5 x 0.03937 = 0.19685. :)

Scope ring companies measure and label their rings different. Weavers tend to be low. If your old scope is a 40mm and it fit in Weaver mediums with a little extra room, the 50mm might fit with Weaver highs. It should work with extra-highs, but they might be higher than you want.
You could probably get by with either Millet Angle-locks or Warne Maximas in medium.

Thanks, I appreciate the help, I'm about to leave the house and try the 1" medium or high. I'll let you guys know how it works out.
