Hey everyone

I have had a Saiga .308 with a 21" barrel for a few years now and I haven't got around to shooting it much. I recently purchased one of the new SVD style thumbhole stocks for it that are coming on some of the RAA saiga imports and I really like it. However I would like to mount a scope on the rifle and I would like to keep it true to it roots and use some sort of eastern block scope.

I like the PSO family of scopes but I like the ability to vary the magnifications.
3-9 or 4-8 would be fine with me. But I will consider a fixed power scope as well. I have looked into IOR scopes and they look excellent. But mostly I want something from eastern europe. Tell me what what have you used on your rifles and what your prefer.

IOR is made in Romania. That's Eastern Europe.

IOR scopes are absolutely excellent. Glass by Schott. It will be optically similar to a Zeiss, but for 1/2 the price.

They also have military features. Reticles designed to take out 2-legged varmints out to 800m. Better parallax setting (200m instead of 100 yards like hunting scopes).

They are clear, have great clicks, solid as a rock. And now recently, their customer service has caught up and dealers as well are backing them up 100%.

For the Saiga .308, I'd go for the 6x Super M2 calibrated for .308. The calibration of the BDC will be well within the accuracy of the rifle for any load you feed it. That will make it a "Saiganov" ... not pretty, but all BS aside from all these gun snobs and know-nothings, a highly practical and effective medium range semi-auto sniper rifle. You will be able to use the quick and easy range finder to size up the target, then you just click to the corresponding range and you will be within COM. Very simple. Takes all the work out of it, which is what you want. It will not be the best paper-punching scope. Not at all. That's not what it is designed for. You'll get by, but few things out there can beat it for ease in hitting COM shots out to medium distance.

I have a Sightron SII with a side mount from Tantal mounted on two of my Saiga 308s.

It doesn't look ComBloc, but it works well. If you need a mount, drop me a PM - I've got a couple of extra NIB Tantal side mounts that I need to move.
