Went to the gun show yesterday just for something to do. Figured I might pick up a few ammo cans and browse. Dayton,Ohio Bill Goodman show, by the way.
On my second pass around the show I was looking at an AK under-folder and happened to look over at a rack on the same vendor's table. On the opposite side of the rack I saw the flash hider sticking up between some other Mausers.
A quick inspection revealed a good bore, really nice wood, and the metal finish worn on the buttplate, flash hider, and the sharp edges. About 90% finish remaining I would say. The kicker was it still had some cosmoline on the outside of the barrel and on the bolt. I don't think it has been fired since being brought into the country.
Needless to say, it was a really nice surprise. A quick trip to the ATM and I brought it home. Wish I had a way to post pictures, but I am working on that.

FR8 is G8!

I got mine a couple years back. What a wonderful little freak of a rifle.

What you get when a CETME/G3 mates with a 98 Mauser.

What did you pay for yours?

Im thinking of selling mine.
It has been fun, but I got a deal with the wife, everything has got to fit in the safe, and I just built another FAL.

Ive also got nickel (or chrome?) plated, two piece, M-98, stripper clips that fit and function in my FR-8 perfect.
$15 shipped for 20 stripper clips and a 50 rnd Aussi 7.62 NATO bandoleer.
PM me if you are intrested.

Paid 249.00 plus tax. It came with a new sling as well. I wasn't actively searching for one, but couldn't pass it up. Really a super neat little rifle.

Sounds like you got a nice one! :)

We've got 6 of them around here and most of my buddies each have one. We got them when they first started showing up for about $100. Most were OK finish wise, but one or two were real nice. Great shooting little rifles and a lot of fun. If your looking for strippers, the chromed Mauser ones seem to work the best in ours. Oh, and leave that bolt alone, you'll learn to really like it. My one buddy turned his down and now regrets it.

Those FR8s are handy...

little rifles. I was shooting mine yesterday. Need to work up some loads because it does not like the loads I worked up for my MAS. Shoots Indian 308 just fine though. Look in the tube under the barrel. There might be a cleaning kit in there. Bayonets are easy to come by right now for your rifle........chris3
