Most guns come from the factory with screw-in choke tubes these days for all gauges except .410. They mostly come with fixed full chokes and a couple with modified but that's about it with a few exceptions.
Why is that? Is it too difficult to make choke tubes for such a small barrel size? Do they think no one wants a choice of chokes in .410?
I've hunted lots with a .410 and know it's only effective out to about 25-30 yards or so even with a full choke. I have one with a fixed modified choke that patterns very well, but it would be nice to switch to a more open choke for hunting extremely thick terrain where shots are limited to 10 yards or even less.
So why don't we have that choice?
