I lucked out and had a beautiful day to go to the range today to test my latest build,
the one on top. It hosts a Simmons 8 X 34 scope that with the AO becomes perfectly clear at 25 yards.

The Range Officer set up my targets and I set up my bench. I like Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix because the benches are concrete and block so they don't move. I used an old steel from rest with bag and medium Peltor bag in the rear. Firing a variety of ammo I found that my trusty old CCI Blazer was the best shooting compared to CCI-SV, Wolf Match Extra and Eley Force. I'll have to bring some other ammo with me next time.

Ten shot groups at 25 yards show promise.

The build, from old parts, starts out with a 10/22 that was given to me by a very good friend this Christmas. It has a Clark 20 inch heavy barrel, a Simmons 8 X 34 scope and a standard 6.5 pound trigger. I changed the stock to a MagPul, kept the Clark barrel ,and polished the internals of the trigger to get a pull of just under 3 pounds. There is very little take up and no overtravel. It was an old trigger that I had laying around the house for about 15 years.

I was kind of rushed because I got to the range later than I wanted but I still managed to shoot 2 10 shot groups with each of the four loading. Everything went well except I'm shooting about 3 inches to the right and have no more adjustment. I'll take the scope off tomorrow and reseat the mount to try to get it centered. Next week should be back into the 70 or 80s without rains so I'll go back out to Ben Avery.
