Security changes after a remodel

And I think some of you are giving the average criminal a bit too much credit. Perhaps there's a handful of master thieves or cat burglars out there (Ocean's Eleven, the Pink Panther, The Heist, The Score, Thief, Set it Off, etc.) but my experience is that all of these folks end up caught, convicted and serving time. And drug addiction being the main driver for probably 99.9% of those that break into the dwellings of their fellow citizens, well, let's just say, karma will eventually catch up, usually sooner than later.
The likelihood that they will be caught does not seem to keep them from getting in.

Perhaps, but we're talking about making it uncomfortable for them, and shortening the time they have to grab property, should they get inside the dwelling. Then, slowing them down from being able to access secured containers and/or find the most valuable items, and particularly firearms.

At the very least, should my dwelling become a target again, I will laugh myself to sleep afterward knowing that the time they took to try and find one of my power tools to break in my arms room, one of the security containers or safes will cause them to suffer permanent hearing damage from my audible alarm, that they'll have to hurry their actions knowing the strobe on the front of the house is visible to passing commercial airliners at 35,000 feet, that the alarm company has already notified the entire family and we're all en route home, that the deputies are en route as we'll have called 911 while watching the burglars in action, live and in HD, we'll have great photos of their vehicle and their faces and attire... oh, and we're on end of a long dead-end road, so their chances for egress are not optimum. Then, once again, going to court will be fun because with the plethora of video evidence they won't be able to plea down to any misdemeanors.

Presuming they get to leave the premises (or the acres of woods surrounding the house) in handcuffs.

My point is simply to concur with others that no security measures are absolutely effective in the case of a determined, clever and experienced criminal, but we can make it extremely difficult for them to achieve complete success while also guaranteeing that we will have the evidence to ensure eventual capture and criminal conviction.
