Please vote and tell me how reliable your seecamp 32 has been.

Please only owners of the 32ACP model.

Thank you.

Bob79:

You didn't offer the choice I needed, so I said 100% reliable right out of the box. Seecamps can be ammo sensitive, and Larry Seecamp will warn you of that before you buy.

I wish you had offered the choice: "Did your Seecamp function perfectly AFTER you found the ammo it likes"? (Or something of that nature.)

If you will listen to the recommendations of Larry tho, you will use only the recommended hp ammo (OLD silvertips/gold dots/Hornady/Federal Hydrashock/, etc.) you will resolve any feeding problems with little difficulty, and once you find what your particular Seecamp likes you will have, IMO, a 100% reliable pistol.

When I got my first Seecamp I shot some old silvertips in it, and had two failure to feed properly. I also shot a few of the "cheap" Winchester Q4255's (which feed and function quite well in Seecamps) and one or two of them didn't feed properly.

Q4255's are cheap, plinking ammo, and I believe the tolerances are sloppy, as I use the cheap 9mm Wally World Winchester ammo and have problems with it in several of my 9mm pistols. Sometimes it's great stuff, next batch, less so.
I think that's probably true with the Q4255's.

I then bought several boxes of Speer Gold Dots and those functioned perfectly from the first round and that's what I carry in the LWS32 for cc now.

I bought my wife a Seecamp LWS32 shortly thereafter, and it fed both the Q4255's and the Gold Dots perfectly right out of the box.

I have another LWS32 and a LWS380 on order, and it is my intention to shoot Speer Gold Dots in them if they "like 'em"..

The newer model LWS32's will in fact feed and fire almost any of the quality HP ammo, and some folks are constantly looking for that "better round".. In fact Larry has said he found Hornady's seem to be the "best of the best" but he hasn't had time or sufficient Hornady 60gr SJH/XTP 32rds. available to test so that he can add that particular round to the recommended list, but probably will in the future.

Seecamps are basically custom built pistols. The tolerances are very close, and quality ammo is necessary. I have no problem with that.

I've had Tomcats/Guardians/KelTecs and I think the Guardian and the P32 are good little pistols, but for my likes and needs nothing compares to a Seecamp.

Yep, I'm turning into a Seecamp "homer"..

YMMV.

I'm aware that you can only use JHP ammo, and that you should stick to the shorter rounds. And even then you need to see which ammo your particular Seecamp "likes". I used to have a 32 Seecamp but got rid of it because I wanted a better caliber. I sold it with the Hedley front pocket holster too, that was a nice holster.

I'm looking into getting a small gun to put in my front pocket that will work for all clothing scenarios. I fully plan on sticking to my Chief's Special 9mm semi-auto IWB or Bodyguard 38 (IWB or front pocket) for most of the time. But there are times, when wearing Khakis or suit (a couple times a year) when even the J-frame in the front pocket is just too bulky for "dress" pants.

I've been down the Kel-Tec road twice, and will not be making a 3rd trip. I looked at the NAA Guardian in 32, but they are a little too bulky/heavy. Right now I'm thinking a Seecamp 32 or maybe a NAA mini like the new Mag Pug. The Seecamp is a more simple operation, more rapid fire, and gives me more capacity. While a mini in 22mag provides utter reliability, and even more compact size. The mini would cost me about $315 with shipping and FFL paperwork. There is a local shop that has Seecamps for $450, so that would run about $475.

I have checked out the Seecamp forum a lot, and there seems to be some issues that arise. Like the ammo sensitivity, and some part breakages. I've read about the mag plates sliding forward, hammer strut break, and extractor issues. But I know all guns can break, and there certainly aren't a lot of problems. And I have to admit the Seecamp I held and checked out looked quality, and just had a "coolness" factor to it. I'm going to take my time and figure out what would be best.

12+ years 1000s of rounds 100% even when I've drug it out of my pocket at the range and took it home and cleaned a mound of pocket lint out of it.mine has fed silvertips and golddots but I now use Fiocchi SJHP it chronos 1000fps about 200 faster then the others.

It is reliable in a uncanny, boring sort of way...the way I like my guns. Mine is twenty years old and still going strong. It eats silver tip, gold dot, hornady, corbon, fiocchi and hydro shok.

Seecamp 32

Mine was 100% reliable until I had the hammer strut break.

I bought a new one and installed it yesterday. I'm taking the LWS 32 to the range tomorrow to ensure that everything is working correctly.

Overall, I think the little Seecamp is a good pistol. However, the hammer strut breaking with only about 200 rounds through it during several years of ownership does concern me a bit.

Best regards.

ammo OAL

Whenever one speaks about reliability of a Seecamp 32 acp, it usually revolves around misbehaving ammo. I visit the LWS forum regularly and many members say the OAL of the 32 round needs to be <= 0.910 inches to feed reliably. I bought a pair of calipers at Harbor Freight for about $15 and take selected readings on factory. ammo. Guess what... the OAL varies all over the place for several well known brands that have been suggested to work well in the Seecamp. You may have to "screen" your ammo to some extent if you are experiencing problems.

I have a pair of CA editions ( I guess they didn't want to make em special for us with Massachusetts on the slide) which are the same guns, just have a safety on the trigger that tends to be a $100 premium for something nobody I have ever heard of actually using.
They've been very reliable with Hornadys and the Wal Mart WWB truncated cone rounds,I guess that'd be the Q4255?They had it mismarked for $5 a box and I bought a bunch of it,luckily it works great in 'em.Apparently, even from the same manufacturer, some loads work much better than others and the Seecamp is especially picky about OAL.

They're nifty little things but my problem is my sweat. It seems like I must be part Toxic Avenger as the slide rusts overnight if I don't wipe it down. One of them pitted enough that the eraser and bronze wool tricks didn't work and it's not very nice looking in the cocking serrations anymore. For an expensive, low usage gun that was a big disappointment but live and learn.I'm going to have the whole thing Duracoated black at some point, should make it more rugged and slicker looking.

The Seecamp forum has a topic on Duracoat, one fellow had mixed results and advised against it. If I can find the thread I'll post a link here. May be worth a read.

Thank God for search engines...

There are several other threads on various coatings discussed on the forum too.

I have had ONE issue with mine - it failed to feed ONCE, when I was using non-recommended FMJ 71 gr ammo. That was ONCE in TWO-FIFTY round boxes of FMJ, and it has never stutterred with the several boxes of Gold Dot, Corbon, or the CASE of Silvertips I'm almost through.

Yeah-you're not supposed to use FMJ in the Seecamp, HP only.

Looks like most people are happy with their Seecamps.

Bought One

I ended up buying a Seecamp in 32acp last month. I sent it to Teddy Jacobson right away to have the grips stippled, and for an action job. The gun looks great, and I took it to the range and shot 41 flawless rounds of Hornady. Target was about 20 feet away, all rounds fired with my "strong" hand, and I kept them all in a 5-6 inch group.

I'm really happy I've got another Seecamp again, and my Galco pocket holster should be here this week.

Good luck with the .380 Mr Flowers. That thing has got to have a pretty good sting. I'll be sticking with the 32acp model, it has just the right amount of recoil for me.
