Bob79:
You didn't offer the choice I needed, so I said 100% reliable right out of the box. Seecamps can be ammo sensitive, and Larry Seecamp will warn you of that before you buy.
I wish you had offered the choice: "Did your Seecamp function perfectly AFTER you found the ammo it likes"? (Or something of that nature.)
If you will listen to the recommendations of Larry tho, you will use only the recommended hp ammo (OLD silvertips/gold dots/Hornady/Federal Hydrashock/, etc.) you will resolve any feeding problems with little difficulty, and once you find what your particular Seecamp likes you will have, IMO, a 100% reliable pistol.
When I got my first Seecamp I shot some old silvertips in it, and had two failure to feed properly. I also shot a few of the "cheap" Winchester Q4255's (which feed and function quite well in Seecamps) and one or two of them didn't feed properly.
Q4255's are cheap, plinking ammo, and I believe the tolerances are sloppy, as I use the cheap 9mm Wally World Winchester ammo and have problems with it in several of my 9mm pistols. Sometimes it's great stuff, next batch, less so.
I think that's probably true with the Q4255's.
I then bought several boxes of Speer Gold Dots and those functioned perfectly from the first round and that's what I carry in the LWS32 for cc now.
I bought my wife a Seecamp LWS32 shortly thereafter, and it fed both the Q4255's and the Gold Dots perfectly right out of the box.
I have another LWS32 and a LWS380 on order, and it is my intention to shoot Speer Gold Dots in them if they "like 'em"..
The newer model LWS32's will in fact feed and fire almost any of the quality HP ammo, and some folks are constantly looking for that "better round".. In fact Larry has said he found Hornady's seem to be the "best of the best" but he hasn't had time or sufficient Hornady 60gr SJH/XTP 32rds. available to test so that he can add that particular round to the recommended list, but probably will in the future.
Seecamps are basically custom built pistols. The tolerances are very close, and quality ammo is necessary. I have no problem with that.
I've had Tomcats/Guardians/KelTecs and I think the Guardian and the P32 are good little pistols, but for my likes and needs nothing compares to a Seecamp.
Yep, I'm turning into a Seecamp "homer"..
YMMV.
