Selling ar15?

If I was in the situation you described, I would sell it. Looking back thru my records I have sold several guns in the last 5-6 years and bought several. I do regret selling 3 guns for a number of reasons, mostly emotional attachment to them. That said, the collection I have now is fulfilling my goals and current needs. My goal has been to buy and use guns I've always wanted. I've sold all of my guns through correspondence with friends or listing them on Midwestguntraders.com. It's a free site, that I like much better than ArmsList. I live near Kansas City and most of my buyers have come from a 100 mile radius of that area. Never shipped a gun but have had interested buyers from as far way as Idaho and Minnesota. Had many calls and only one hinky gun, but got rid of him quickly, no problem.

I sold one of mine during the last shortage when a guy offered me 4 times what I had in it. I replaced it later with a higher end one and put a little money in my pocket. So you could possibly do the same thing.

I also sold about 12 guns last Spring. A shooting buddy with a firearms license listed them on Gunbroker for me. His strategy was to start the bidding at 99cents and it worked well for me. My guns are in my will and my Sons were not interested in any of the 12.

Where would you look for a buyer?
Probably here in the Trading Post (scroll way down in the forurm listings).

Read the sticky carefully.

Take photos of everything you would want to see if buying. Set a price you consider fair. Be prepared to get counter-offers (at least THR folk are unlikely to offer you a $100 Money Order and a Raven as a trade, unlike Armslist).

You'd have to decide if you wanted the hassle of shipping to an FFL for buyers in IA or WI, since they will be nearby.

Worst thing that happens if you list it here is that no one responds. (Or it sells and you have Seller's Remorse.)

It seems to be a sellers market right now. I sold a few guns last year that I hadn't shot in years. I didn't make a fortune, but I got more than I paid for them.

It might hurt you to know then, that 3 of them are functionally identical. Hey, they were cheap and plentiful :)
Oh hell, then I'd sell one most likely.

Keep in mind that the pain right now is only on the buyer's side.

Might come a day when we aren't allowed to sell them at any cost.

Todd.

If you have something else that covers the need, why not sell it?

Its just an AR, and a common version.
Not rare or collectible.
If you can use the $ for something else.....

Hell i sold a couple of kinda sorta collectible/ pretty rifles. Need to pay for some out of state hunts while i have some health left.

Hunted varmints w AR a few times and never warmed up to the platform. Back to 700 I went.

Im of the "dont need more stuff" club.
I need more time and health to use what I have.

Nothing wrong w collecting or just buying whatever one wants.

Anymore i just hunt. Need a camper.

I've sold several ar15's over the last few months and bought a few guns and supplies that id rather have. What started it was a buddy asking for one after I told him for months to buy one cheap from PSA. When he finally told me he HAD to have one I said "fine. 900 bucks." That was double what I had into it. He said SOLD! Then he told me he couldn't find one for less, so I gave him some extra kit to go with, since he is a buddy. Consigned a few thru the LGS and sold some privately. Made a lot of cash on my ar building hobby.

I just put together a PSA M-4 kit that I bought in 2018. It was $299 + $17 shipping back then which was as about a cheap as I've ever seen them which is why I bought it. I got an Anderson lower receiver for $53. Add a RRA NM trigger for $87 and I have about $460 into it. I had a Leupold MarkAR 1.5-4x on a Aero Precision mount that completed it. I thought about selling it, but I just might keep it.

Now is a good time to sell what you don't have use for. But, it is very hard to choose what you don't use now, but might use in the future. I've sold a few in the past for what were good reasons at the time, but later regretted it.

Just ordered a new PSA complete upper today and it was $550 shipped. Keep the lower and sell the upper if you want money to play with something else.

I just sold a pistol to a good friend who just got divorced. His wife got everything even his old .22 rifle. He needed something for varmints and such around the farm.

It was the first gun I've sold in 40+ years. It had not been out of the safe in years, and have 3 others almost identical. but, now I really miss it! Strange
