So I came to the realization that I no longer shoot my SKS. I would just much rather have the room in my safe for something that I actually use. I started looking around and there are a few posted on Gunbroker, auctionarms, etc... but none of them seem to be selling. Whats the deal with that. It was my impression that people were still seeking these out. Am I wrong? Any other places I should try to sell this thing?

Maybe I should have titled this "Is there still a demand for SKS on the market?"

Its a Yugo 59/66 I believe. With bayonet, grenade launcher, the works. All the numbers that I have found on it seem to match. Its in great condition. If I knew how to post a picture, I would.

I ve got four of these , three still in cosmolene with really nice wood. The fourth one is my shooter and my my range to go rifle. It shoots 2 inch grp at 100 yds on sandbag rest with Yugo FMJs. Everytime i entertain a friend who visits me from out of town, this is the rifle i bring along as its easy to aim , light recoil and quite accurate. THe trigger is also very easy to master.

I agree, they are great shooters. I just have a lot of different calibers to choose from and this one seems to always get pushed to the back. I shot the crap out of it when I got it, but lately it has been neglected. Time to move it along.

I wish I had the money for one but the prices really seem out of line to me. I can see $100 - $200 for an SKS but more than that? Which is why I still don't have one.

I sell a lot of stuff on Gunbroker.com. I also sell stuff in the For Sale section of a couple gun forums. Prices of SKS's have dropped a little recently. If you list the gun for sale and it doesn't sell then you price is too high. What are you asking for it ???

I think I paid around 200$ for it, so I would like to get at least that. I am not out to make a ton of money on it, Id just like it to go to a good home and recoup my money on it.

What forums allow classified ads? From what I can tell there isnt a section here for it.

Entry level prices for SKS's have definitely climbed over the past year or so. Very rare to find anything other than a parts gun in the $200 range. $275 seems to be the new entry point for Yugos, Russians and other rarer variants are flirting with the $500 range. They may have been giving these things away when they first arrived onshore, but there haven't been any new ones come in for a long time.

A year ago you could get Nagant revolvers for $60, no more. The day of the $70 Moisin is rapidly coming to a close. We've all got stories of ones we didn't buy when they were cheap and readily available.
