semi or revolver for carrying while hunting

I am more concerned when I'm muzzleloader or bow hunting about any place I hunt in a fairly close to the prison during rifle season I wouldn't be worried. I am also wanting one for home defense like I said I only have one little 22 revolver and I like to have some better to have close by and if I felt a need to carry when I'm hunting thanks

In that case, I'd vote for a semi-auto simply because they hold more rounds. Which one is very personal choice. I like 9mm because the ammo is (usually) commonly available and you can get fairly small guns that are not difficult to conceal if that's your goal.

Here no semi autos are legal as they do not meet state power requirements. I often carry a Ruger Security Six 4 inch .357 as I did today.

What are they, quite a few semiautos that have more energy than a 4" 357 revo.

If I understand the OP correctly he wants a handgun for hunting AND s/d. In that case the .357 is still best for me. Adequate for medium size game where legal, great for small game with downloads, and hot B/Bore .357 is a long step up in power from a .45acp and still more potent than the 10mm while retaining ability to use very light grouse loads - something the auto cannot do. For all-around versatility the .357 gets the nod.
