He doesn't oppose the second ammendment but wants restraints placed on the purchase of handguns by the mentally ill.....Geeezzzz can these guys change a story 180 degrees to suit their situation.

This is why history is so important when it comes to evaluating a candidate. What they say today is important, but what they said yesterday is just as important. These people change their story all the time to look more acceptable to the voting public, but the reality is they are the same and nothing has changed at all other than they have been forced to quiet their legislative agenda with regard to gun issues. Expect to see Shumer run for president in the future... he knows best.

IMO, they should ban attorneys from running for public office....this is one reason why the conduct of our elected officials is so vicious....they're all lawyers with egos to match their hat size.

I think it's more along the lines that the majority of American are so politically stupid that politicians know they can get away with it. Look at the Harry Reid versus Sharron Angle race. Reid learned he can blatantly lie and get more money and more votes.

Chucky just does whatever gets Chucky's face on camera----you should have heard his anti-gun spew in the 80's---then the cause du jour when the gun issue was off the table.

Now he's shamelessly trying to take advantage of a tragic situation.

Lowest of the low form of pond scum.

I think the antis will abandon the strategy of banning guns oe gun features, and use this incident to launch their final solution -- to put everyone on the "prohibited persons" list. They'll start by adding anyone who has ever used drugs or is rejected for military service due to drugs. Then with each subsequent shooting they'll pick whatever categories the shooter belongs in and add them to the list. Eventually everyone will be a prohibited person.

Nothing like a radical trying to disguise himself as a moderate. I preferred the Chuck we knew back in the 80's and 90's... at least he told us how he really feels.

that the reason people want less gun control now is because so many gun control laws created in recent years (and he specifically used the Brady law as an example) have been so successful, the american public doesn't feel the need for more.

ROTFL!!! :D That's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard out of a congressman's mouth this year! They just love the current draconian laws still in existence soo much that they don't see the need for new ones! LOL :p

It couldn't be that most of America has stopped letting the media scare them into wanting more gun control.

Thanks, I needed that.

This is the same Senator that said for years that it was "settled law" that there was not an individual right to own a firearm. This is one of the biggest problems in our country. Our MSM sits around drooling stupid while politicians speak out both sides of their mouth. And we as citizen has very short memories.

I never understand why the interviewers don't ask:
1) Are you guarded by tens of thousands of dollars in security, security guards, and police?
And/or
2) Do you own firearms?
3) Why don't you think the American citizens should be able to protect/defend themselves?

Often they don't ask such incendiary questions because the network owners would be POed. It sucks, but that's part of it.

The good people in the upstate regions of NY are languishing under the regulatory and tax policies by the mostly anti-gun people who view hunting as a necessary evil due to the revenue stream it creates.

Thank you for realizing that NY should be two separate states... As upstaters we suffer the wrath of downstate politics and useless policies generated by shortsighted morons. If it weren't home, I would be gone from NY in a short second. (And upstate truly is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been...)

Yes, Upstate NY and it's politics are much much different than the NY City area. In his past election both of the candidates for the US House of Rep. in my district were pro-gun and got an A or A+ rating from the NRA.

"Chucky Cheese" Schumer has always been an opportunistic, band-wagon politician who gets elected by pandering to the NYC Liberal base. Unfortunately, here in NY we are at the mercy of the "Citidiots" when it comes to our representation.
