As a side note..
No there WONT be a draft.
BUT, if there was a real need for one, the BEST move the Gov'ment could make, would be to draft 35-45 year olds.
Why you ask? ( Yes I know that we might be considered "over the hill") Well I could give (at least) hundreds of reasons, but keep this little thought in your head....
(Those of you that have also served, I dont need to see you, I know you are knodding your head)
A platoon of 18 yr old conscripts would ask the question "What is it I'm supposed to do?"
A platoon of 35-45 yr olds only question would be "Next?"
Dont get me wrong, I DONT think that 18 yr. olds, or conscripts would be unqualified, or under trained, I am simply making two points with one statement..
1) We (As 35-45 yr. olds) understand not only "mortality" (our own and others), but "necessity" (as in the situation). Think about that.. And..
2) At this point in our life, (us 35-45 yr. olds) we have learned that when a job needs to be done, you do it NOW, you do it WELL, and you FINISH it.
NO disrespect intended to our younger servicemen....I "signed the line" 3 months before my 18th birthday.
Us "old folks" may not be able to "doubletime" a 65 pound pack, rifle, and ammo up a mountain, or even a good sized hill, but when we DO get to the top, we WILL hold it. Just because we dont want to have to do it again!
Its not how fast you get there, its what you do WHEN you get there.
