Sensationalism

As we've seen recently the press will even portray an Airsoft collection as real guns if even one real gun is also present.

If the trend below keeps up, The People will have more to worry about than the fanciful mischaracterizations of The Agit-Press:

Firefighters taking new role as anti-terrorist eyes of the US government (AP), http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/11/24/america/NA-GEN-US-Firefighters-Terrorists.php?page=1

I seem to recall some jurisdictions have recruited garbage men, cable installers, and other invited guests to provide intel to the security state.

Being processed for having a bad attitude at the airport is one thing, being tagged for a bad attitude at home starts to take on the air of an East German block party.

If you are innocent, you have nothing to fear, yes komrade?

Not true, even for non-gun-owners. I've seen an entire block cleared by SWAT for a C&R collector's obvious inert dummies found by EMT's when he collapsed at his front door. So this isn't just a PITA for collectors, it's a problem for neighbors 'kept safe' while a high gain security state maximizes it's false positive rate and guarantees a noise floor that real terrorists can hide amongst.

You can't be too safe but you can be too over-regulated, policed, cowed, herded, pre-empted, and enslaved on the installment program.

numerous model rocket engines and cache of molded lead, but it was quickly dismissed upon the explanation by Mr. 813 that he was a rocketeer of sorts and enjoyed casting his own fish weights.
NO!!! Devices for construction of surface to air missiles and toxic materials! What shocking police ineptitude. Haven't they learned to connect the dots? Those responsible must resign immediately!

Federal agents raid house, find trouble.

Agents of the B.A.T.F.E., F.B.I., S.E.C., I.R.S., and M.O.U.S.E. raided a local home based on a tip. The home owner, later identified as Arthur Clark-Wellesley, was taken into custody after officials found an arsenal of military weapons* and large cache of ammunition**. Officials also found maps to several sensitive locations across the US***, stockpiles of survivalist supplies****, survivalist literature^, anti-government literature^^, weapons making equipment and supplies^^^, as well as extremist religious propaganda^^^^.

Clark-Wellesley, a known member of several anti-government+ and religious extremists groups++, is being held without bond.

“We don’t know how close he was to carrying out any plans, but we are being cautious. He’s been in communication with several members of various militant organizations+++ so we can not rule out the possibility of reprisals being carry out on the public++++,” said Special Agent Shmuckatelli of the FBI. Agent Shmuckatelli added, “We are just glad to stop this one threat now, but the public should stay aware that they are in danger and should report any suspicious activity they see@. It could lead to us being able to take dangerous threats like this off the street@@.”

I post here. "Anti-government pro-terrorist websites"
Got a wonderful black lab. "Guard dog"
Live in the middle of nowhere. "Secluded secret compound"
Got a swimming pool. "Waterboard torture" and "cache of water"

Heck, I am scared of myself now.

Firefighters taking new role as anti-terrorist eyes of the US government
Next thing you know people will have wall to wall tvs and the firefighters will burn books that could possibly make them realize their government is a sham. Fahrenheit 451 isn't as far away as it once was.

HAha fun reading ya'll's posts. i spell ya'll's right? didn't know you could use two apostrophies in one word...anyway, i'm a 27 yr old bachelor and a navy vet so after they tripped over all my dirty clothes and unpaid bills on the floor they'd find fox news channel left on my TV, instant give away. then they go to a small door w/ a dry erase board labeled "boom closet" and open it up to find a cache of weapons. M14, m1carbine, hi power, 1911, m9, 10/22 assult rifle w/ folding stock! oho no! numerous shotguns not to mention 4 lbs of blackpowder. good thing i sold my sks right! then they find my "fatigues", from the military (yes the navy wears cammies too), and my bullet proof vest and kevlar helmet i ....aquired from service. mre's alice packs loaded w/ supplies, and thouands of rounds of ammo...o yeah, a 9 month old attack puppy, carefull, my black lab might lick you to death and hump your leg off. His gas is more dangerous than anything., o yeah, beer cans and black velvet whiskey in the trash so i'm an alcholic to boot! oho yeah, and illegal govn't documents, i never turned in my military ID like i was supposed to...

I know that there are many out there whom aren't likely to speak up, whose list of (legal) possessions would indeed be quite shocking. Find a real NFA dealer/collector, catalogue their toys, and see what the papers would make out of it... Or some of the destructive device enthusiasts who think .50 BMG is for wussies.

Yep, my best friend's old man is a Title II collector. His safe contents would cause Sarah Brady to spontaneously combust. Belt fed machineguns, suppressed SMGs, grenade launchers, M16s and AK47s, sawn-off combat shotguns, a Barrett .50, etc.

A quick guide to media translation for when they bust you.

Your teenage son has a picture of his girlfriend in a bikini= The suspect is suspected of being part of a child porn ring.

You have a long standing range membership=The suspect practiced to kill for years.

You have a CCW= Suspect was so paranoid he carried a gun everywhere.

You bought a weeks worth of groceries=Suspect was stockpiling food and supplies to hold out in a siege.

You have a can of pepper spray= Suspect was in possession of dangerous anti personnel chemical device.

You have more than one deadbolt on your entrance door= Suspect barricaded his home against police.

Let's not even get into people that own bullet resistant vests, prescription drugs, or collect military gear.

Thanks to this thread I had a nightmare that a 1984 type government cam and took all my guns...I awoke screaming.

I can't even imagine how bad they'd be able to muddy my name. Just what's sitting in my driveway should give some idea:

I'm sure they'd have a ball with all the firearms, knives, ammo (about 30K rounds), powder, etc. I've no doubt they'd put a nasty spin on my rather humble machine shop as well.

Oh yeah. "The perpetrator maintained an extensive armory workshop for modifying weapons. Confiscated equipment included a hacksaw, used for sawing off shotgun barrels, and a variety of screwdrivers, used for adjusting hair triggers and long-range telescopic sights for sniping."

How can you afford to pay for gas for that monster...

I mean, that monstrous, militarily designed assault vehicle, made for smashing through police barricades and transporting numbers of anti-government militas?

Edit: oooooo, do I have one more post till "Senior Member"? Woohoo!

Vertical mill, Lathe, Hydraulic press, 250 amp DC mig......I could build just about any type of firearm with enough patience and teh right materials. No equipment to rifle barrels, though.

I usually use diesel, and it actually gets 8 city/10 highway. My '80 Powerwagon 4x4 with a 440 does worse (5.5/7)

I'm not creative enough to write my news story, but I think I have a few items not mentioned previously:

"endangered neighbors in close proximity" = we live, by choice, in a development with relatively small lots. Neighbors house is just 20 feet away.

"bunker-like domicile" = all brick veneer

"multiple escape routes" = front and back doors

"endless supply of explosive gas" = natural gas for water heater, stove, oven, furnace, gas logs & patio grill

"sniper observation posts" = windows, esp on second floor

"concealment features built into domicile" = walls and doors

this thread rocks.

some highlights from my arrest blotter.

"independent early warning system" - I haven't raked my leaves for a good two weeks:rolleyes:

"police style guard dog" 12 year old german shepard, who'd most likely sleep through the whole endeavor.

"tactically placed booby-traps" legos. equal-opportunity device, BTW.

"large stock of flammable projectiles" a cord and a half of seasoned hardwood.

"devastating impact weapons" the ax and sledge next to said firewood.

"chemical-type weapon system" sometimes I get gassy:eek:

"attack pygmies" two kindergarteners and a two year old who greatly dislike being woken up.

The building was set ontop of difficult terrain, capable of stopping a 4 wheel drive vehicle (house is on a big hill). Agents were hindered by barricades around the property (overgrown shrubs), and biological agents were discovered outside the building (poison ivy). Dangerous chemical compounds, similar to the outlawed Agent Orange were found in containers on the front porch (Round-up weed killer), along with several improvised weapons (a rake, shovel, and hoe). The building itself was heavily fortified (made of brick), and featured measures designed to keep agents from entering (deadbolt locks). The suspect may have had some sort of detection system in place to alert him to the officers' presence (alarm system).

Upon entry, agents discovered numerous predatory animals (four cats), and paraphenalia that suggested they were being trained to attack (catnip-laced cat toys). Several dangerous swords and daggars were seized (kitchen knife set), as well as equipment believed to have been used to destroy evidence (paper shredder). Equipment which could be used to heat chemicals used in drug manufacturing (Viking kitchen stove) was also discovered, but was not seized in the raid (its really heavy).

Numerous rounds of assault ammunition were recovered (10 rounds of .38 spl), as well as a small assault weapon (snubby). The suspects were found to be hiding under a heavy blanket (sleeping), on top of a bootleg furniture copy (reproduction sleigh bed).

Thousands of doses of a potent drugs were found (2 bottles of Tylenol, vitamins, OTC arthritis remedies), as well as devices designed to measure quantities of the drugs for distribution (Monday through Sunday pill boxes). A scale for weighing drugs (digital kitchen scale) was also found.

The home was equiped with an underground escape route (Billco basment door). The subterranian portion of the coumpound (basement of the house) contained several items that could be used in what authorities call "a grow operation" (potting soil, a watering can, fertilizer, and one 60W grow bulb). The remains of a harvested hallucinegenic crop were seized (I killed a brugmansia while over-wintering it in the basement).

Additionally, a vehicle was stationed in the rear of the property for a speedy getaway (parked in the driveway). A search of the vehicle turned up items that could be used to clean up and remove evidence from the location (paper garden bags and a leaf blower in the trunk).

PS: MachIVshooter, I wish I had toys like that!
