Gentlemen: I need your input on this. I have a Colt Series 70 Gold Cup 1911A1in 95+ condition with the orginal box and papers all in like new condition. This pistol has had a few rounds thru it but is all original and well maintained. My problem arose when my buddy offered to buy it from me at any fair price. Checking Gunbroker and others I see these Colts going for anywhere from 1000.00 to 1500.00. What do you consider fair for this piece at 95+/original box and papers/2 Colt mags. I want to be fair, but not shaft myself. Help please? I am not trying to sell it on this Forum.

Why sell it? Just keep it & make it a safe queen, it's only going to appreciate in value. Buy another 45 (Colt or other) and use it as a weekly shooter.
Just my $0.02

I'm trying to figure out why you would even consider selling it. I have a Series 70 that I still shoot once in a while when I don't want to shoot my Clark Heavy Slide in a Bullseye match.

I've seen the prices on Gunbroker as well, but if I sold mine, all I would want to do it buy another one.

If your buddy wants a shooter, tell him to buy something new. If he's buying it to keep in his gun safe; what's the point?

If you're selling it, so you can buy something else to shoot, split the difference and tell him $1250, since he's a friend. Of course, I'd tell him I would want first refusal if he ever decided to sell it.

$1000-1250 neighborhood is fair, judging from the recent hunting around and pricing things out around here.
