DETROIT (Map, News) - A former convict on parole who is accused of shooting a 7-year-old girl six times at point-blank range has been ordered to stand trial.
Calvin Tillie is charged with two counts of assault with intent to commit murder, along with other offenses.
The prosecutor's office says a judge in Detroit on Thursday ruled there was enough evidence to bind the 29-year-old Tillie over for trial in Wayne Circuit Court. His next court date was set for May 8.
A message seeking comment was left Thursday with Tillie's lawyer Kim Basen Michon.
Alexis Goggins was shot when she threw herself between a gun and her mother in December. She lost her right eye and underwent six surgeries.
Despite Alexis' efforts, her mother, Seliethia Parker, was shot twice.
